Nowt startling plus he's a Man U supporter ( At least he comes from there I suppose) Got free tickets to go and see him at Gateshead Stadium in 1993.

Good god was it that long ago? Guns and Roses were on the same year. No comparison.

Always did like that Do the right thing track though. Must remember to dig that out and play it some night:D :D

They're OK, but a little bit dull. Apparently, the Queen is a big fan...

Saw him at his last SR concert - wife wanted to go - I've got to say he impressed me - fantastic voice. Couldn't fault the show and his performance.

Must admit I did like the first album, all those years ago, it was a bit rougher than his later stuff, which I felt was a bit schmaltzy. Not bad, or offensive to the ears, but just a little bland and soul-less! IMHO of course!

He is probably a bit of a plonker. i have herd allot of interviews and you get that impression.

It was funny when Martine Mclutchen was sick in his dreds in the taxi LOL.

Good voice though - very unique. I only like the stars album mainly.

Boring and middle of the road.

If they have a single saving grace it's 'Money's to tight to mention' and that's a cover version.

EDIT "If you don't know me by now" is alright as a ballad too Cover Version!

Boring and middle of the road.

And very good organisation/marketing.

Thats why they have sold so many millions of albums.
Same as U2 and the likes. Often overrated IMO.

I do like something got me started though.

I find it amusing when most folk refer to 'HIM' when discussing Simply Red

HIM is actually Mick Hucknall, the group were named Simply Red.
Not a criticism by the way just a general observation !! :D :D

But realistically for many years its actually been, Mick Hucknall trading as Simply Red, the "band" didn't exist, just a collective of recruited session musicians.

How long have you got?

Same hymnsheet here. A handful of very good tracks, the rest is in one ear, and out the other.

I'm afraid to say the whole music business is about organisation and marketing. So I wouldn't blame Mick Hucknall for doing the same thing.

Even the most 'anti-establishment' figures of recent years can't get by without it they just do it a slightly different way.
