View Full Version : Time for a re-think

At the moment in terms of work I have not been doing very well lately. I'm not off to a good start in terms of bookings all this year I need to improve things.
Previously i have been advertising in the Hull telephone directory and also the yellow pages. I have not got much from these at all over the last year. So ive decided I'm not going to bother renewing either of them.
Instead I'm going to concentrate spending money marketing and advertising on the internet.
At the moment my websites as its been pointed out could be miles better than what they are and I agree my websites are rubbish.
Basically I'm going to need a professional website building and a logo re-design and of course advice on how to boost my rankings on search engines.
So i'm going to be putting money into marketing.
Any quotes for a website would be fantastic if anyone could give me one.
Thanks
John

John, no disrespect intended mate but a single line entry in the Hull colour is not going to get you many bookings.
Plus your at a big disadvantage by the fact that you can't drive so you can't go long distance where the money is a lot of the time :(
Regarding the twinspin site, personally I think the red is too in your face mate.
If you tone that colour down, it's a nice simple site which does what it says on the tin
As regards the wedding disco site, I think that's fine personally, simplistic and informative.
Well I suppose I can't say to much cos I haven't sorted my site out yet :D

Can we please not immediately take this thread off topic?
John isn't asking for advice on his current business practices, he is asking for quotes for new websites. Can we please limit discussion to that?
:thanks:

this is what advert was in the yellow pages this year and a smaller one in the colour pages which is similar.
the twinspin business was advertised as a line entry in the wedding entertainment services and under discos mobile.
As from this year they wont be because they have not been worth the money.

I'm not suppose to talk about the adverts or Ang will tell me off, but what the hell, she can only give me a slap after all :D
Sorry mate, I did not see that advert only the linage add in the weddings section.
Will take it back, my fault, must get better glasses :D

Well here we go again.....
I have mine done by Martin and fantastic support and advice.
In the interest of fairness of course I should mention that Marc J is a website guru and Shaun is again fantastic with logo design.

I was referring to the fact that I was trying to help John out, and then he made me look like a right :muppet: by coming in after I'd asked you not to take it off topic and carrying on the off-topic conversation! :daft:

Contract with a venue?
Try as hard as I do to resist, this seems to be the main way forward this year. More and more venues are offering complete packages (even higher end venues) or have residential/recommended/preferred DJ's in place.

I'd say we have an embarrassment of riches on here, regarding websites/hosting etc. All the usual suspects come highly regarded.

Thanks to everyone who has sent me information via PM and in this thread also. A website is an absolute must for me and i'm going to be sorting this within the week.
I will be needing a logo design also as i want to change that completely for a completely fresh new look. At the moment I am deciding whether or not to use my own name as opposed to Hull Wedding Disco and have it all just as one business.

Shaun is your man for awesome custom logos.
Admitidly I have not used his service first hand (as I blew the entire budget on the Website) but I have seen many of his creations.
