One of my venues is doing a Bollywood theme this year for Christmas and I need to start gathering a few ideas for theming and lighting the rooms.

Anyone done anything like this before?

I have a feeling VisualDJMax has....

I haven't done any BUT i have been to a few when i lived in Derby,

All the color themes they seem to had wa golds and reds now i dont know if this relates to certain aspects of religion but it did look the bee's knees so maybe some uplighting set to yellow/orange etc as for other light i wouldn't like to comment incase im totally of it.

Can't see it being any different to any other event apart from the music styles etc but even then i wouldn't think it would matter aslong as there was some Bhangra etc

Sorry for the lame info which you proberley already know

P.s. Maybe video projection with some bollywood themed symbols, visuals etc

Indian musician?

It's a special instrument and sounds amazing.

They aren't overly priced and could play whilst people come in/mingle and have their dinner.

I have worked with one before. Really nice touch.

we did one and a while back and made a really cool sun rising effect with lights and there were lots of litte pergodery type things everywhere with cushions in.
They also had a discret hidden pa behind the amber, red and goldy drapes wich played the background music.
Was just a standard party with a little bit of bollywood themeing.
not sure if this helps - will try and find some pics

I have done Bhangra and Bollywood several times.

Try these Bollywood hits for a traditional Bollywood theme.

Jumma Chumma De De - Hum
Humko Humise Churaio - Udit Narayan (Cut intro)
Ek Ladki Ko Dekha - A Love Story
Tujhe Dekha To - Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge
Awaarapan Banjarapan - J***
Desi Girl - Shankar Mahadevan

Yes... that track is really called J***

Edit: Oh hell. The software deleted the word. It starts with J and is four letters - It rhymes with Prism. The word must mean something different in india.

Just in case you need some Bhangra -
try these;
Hum Tum - Rishi Rich
Don't Be Shy - Rouge
The Power of Bhangra - Snap vs Motivo
Boom Shack a Lak - Apache Indian
Mundian To Bach Ke - Panjabi MC
Teri Baaton - Raghav

ps. J*** is the name of the artiste and not the track in the above post.

Off topic, I know, but I am absolutely delighted that the forum censor picked up that word rhyming with "prism". How does that work? Do the mods/admins have to sit around trying to predict all the schoolboy smut we reprobates might come up with? Wonderful job!

The censor was pre-filled by default, we only had to add a few additional ones. You wouldn't believe some of the words in there! I've either led a sheltered life or the person who originally filled it is having a laugh. :d
