Where did you get your business name from??

Have you ever been called anything else??

Does anybody ever comment on the name of your business??

For some reason my Forum name differs slightly from my Business name ...any other anomalies??

Would you swap your business name for anyone elses on the Forum!!:) :) :)

My name.

I think it's quite catchy. My 'disco business' is selling me as a person.

Your DJ

"I am - Your DJ" sounds personal and definitive.
Also has DJ in the webaddress for SEO

I found the logo picture first, then the name and tag-line followed.

Yes hence my "rebranding" to Cheltenham Wedding DJ as it also gets across the point that I'm their DJ.

Deckstar Deluxe was just a name that I used for my bedroom djing days and was taken from the Funkstar Deluxe alter ego that was used by Tim Deluxe for the "Sun is Shinning" track.

By the time I got round to thinking about a better name for mobile disco use it had already "gotten round" so seem pointless to stop using it.

Dynamic Entertainment
25-01-2011, 10:01 AM
'Double D' Disco - As in Dave Dixon, my stepdad, he then became;

Crazy Daves!.... a fun pub managers marketing ploy that stuck

So when i started up Dynamic Discos people thought i was still working under Crazy Daves.

Dynamic Discos was plucked out of thin air ;) and became "Entertainment" after finding the forum....notice the lack of "S" at the end...."Entertainments" isnt a real word you know :sofa: :D

A need to have an instantly recognisable logo. The sword is kinda easy to remember. ;)

Have you ever been called anything else??

Oh yuss. Highway Star. Can you work out why? :D :D :D

Does anybody ever comment on the name of your business??
Well one customer whose party I did nearly ten years ago, wanted me again. He was driving round, trying to remember who I was, when he remembered the sword. He found Excalibur Mobile Disco, result, happy bunnies. :D

I was originally called "The sound experience" but that was a name no one could remember, so decided on something snappy and memorable and my pal came up with "BeatRoute" using the capital lettering to emphasise it being two words and the tagline "music on the move" everyone remembers the name now and a lot of people call me BeatRoute when they see me in the shop or pub etc !

1977-1985 Asylum Disco (My dad & uncle's company, someone made reference that the way my uncle danced behind the decks "he belonged in an asylum")
2000-2003 Asylum Discos (I started DJing and took the name on)
2004-2009 FX-Disco (Sounded like 'effects'?...I have no idea why I went with it in the end lol)
2011 FX-Entertainments (didn't feel 'disco' sold me well, new start - new name! :D)

thex-faders

ATR is a combo of our names - Adam Taylor and Tom Rogers

And the X-Faders (Cross Faders) explains itself. However we're going to be moving to ATR Entertainments as we're going to offer uplighting & things so a bit of re branding will get done.

Wow!
Some of you guys have been re-branded more times than BT ( my former employer of 30 years!)
At School me ( cause i built a 30 watt valve amplifier)
and a gobby mate....
Chess mobile discotheques. (first gig borrowed an electric milk float!!)

Left school teamed up with new Dj from sheffield
allready called
Unit Five Discotheques.

fell out with him as he left his wife for a disco-dolly
( ok a gig pick up)
went solo 20 years ago as Davesounds Discotheques!

after going full time 3 and a half years ago ( was made redundant they never even said THANKYOU!!)
as getting into more diverse stuff
Repairs , Cabling , Background music , PAT testing rebranded to
Davesounds Services ( sounds a bit industrial but who would allow a "Disco" to
design and cable a small to medium multi zone music system!)

cant complain as im plenty busy so dont need a super website or any promo stuff....
You can spot the old operators they were all DISCOTHEQUES
( love that word).. gotta go am gigging tonight
everyone calls me mr Sounds..
Message ends..

PS NICE THREAD MR ZSOUNDS!

There is a comedian who has my real name - Equity wouldn't let me use it. So I used the name I had given my website.

i remember my cb name was dazzling daz i used to have to repeat it a couple of times before people got it so thought better of that,, D.M.G mobile discos or roadshow was another i was gonna go with, still may change it yet?

Ours came about because we naively thought any name beginning with A would get us on the first page of any directories listed in alphabetical order:doh:

I used to buy the club magazine DJ mag every month and they have a section called Access All Areas and it went from there:D

When I first started there was a local guy doing the rounds, that looked a bit like Noel Edmunds. He had a painted frontboard, which was all the rage back then, with Phil in the top left corner, and Ament in the bottom right, we assumed for years that it was his name, never guessing that he was actually Philament! Doh!

spin mobile disco
26-01-2011, 05:29 PM
Mine was pretty obvious when it appeared. I was working as a roadie for my dad in the 80's and used to take a stint at dj'ing so he could have a break. After one of my stints my dad gave me an exit line of and spinning the last few hit's .

I became DJ spin, a name that I used quite well in the clubs of portsmouth and southampton. When I stopped club dj'ing and went mobile I wanted to keep the name as I had a small follwing . Spin mobile disco stuck.

Silver Bullet

Mine comes from a line in the Meatloaf song 'Midnight At The Lost And Found'

Silver Bullets in the jukebox, spin another around.

There are hundreds of companies out there called Topaz, you don't half talk some nonsense.

I used to be called Ben's Mobile Discos, that was really good for years untill I kind of outgrew it.

Then I started Light my Venue as we went into to doing lighting which we ran alongside the discos.

After a couple of years though I couldnt really fit in the dance floors / discos etc as part of either company so I we now trade as Premier DJ & Event Services UK Ltd.

I did quite like being Bens Mobile Discos although as we started to put other DJ's out we did have to make sure that the client knew that it might not be Ben that was their DJ.

If only I had been Premier from the start i could have saved myself hundreds on flyers :)

As the punters are usually looking for a mix of different music and someone who is knowledgeable about it, I came up with mine which I think sums it up nicely. Have to admit I was surprised no one else had thought of it before me!
