View Full Version : Another Kam problem

My Kam Star Cluster is playing up. The green works fine, it's bright, spins does everything it should, the red however is faulty.

It comes on for a second or two then fades away. It doesn't spin or do any party tricks. I can look into the aperture and can see it but it doesn't look too bright to me.

So ...

1. What's up with it?

2. Could I possibly fix it? Bearing in mind I'm no d.i.y chap.

3. What do you think the cost will be

Many thanks. http://planetsmilies.net/sign-smiley-7167.gif

The red diode has probably died - the same thing happened to mine.

They can be replaced, but I'm not sure how easy or hard it is - I think I got a replacement and fixing cost of about £50 when mine went, though I never did anything about it.

Thanks, I was wondering if that was the problem. Mine's been like it for about the last four or five gigs. Nobody has come up and said "Hey mate your red laser isn't working!" :D

So I think it will have to slip down a rung or two on the priority ladder for now.

Never ever look into an aperture of a laser especially when the unit is on.
Sorry Health and safety kicking in again :D

OK, from the top:

So ...

1. What's up with it?

It's broken

2. Could I possibly fix it? Bearing in mind I'm no d.i.y chap.

As Solitaire has already mentioned, it could be the red diode that's going and/or maybe the diode power board maybe on it's way out

3. What do you think the cost will be

Agree with Solitaire price is about right

You don't give up, do you?

Are you telling me that all of these fixes, help and finding parts for people is free?

Without wishing to get into a leary thread, your first post was of no help at all. You just said "It was broken" errr thanks for that, would never have worked that one out. You then reiterated what Darren had said. So no added input whatsoever.

Sorry to go off topic Silver.

The quote I got was from Clive at CR Services - you might want to give him a try?
