There's a documentary on tonight about the Bristol City 8. If you not familar with the story then very quickly in 1982 Bristol were "broke" and the only way to stop them going into liquidation was if 8 players were to tear up their contracts for a small financial settlement.

I think you'll be hard pushed to find a player willing to do that nowadays.

You only have to look at the amount of players who jump ship, when the team they helped to get relegated finally drops out of the premier league

Yes I believe there are quite a few who would. Not so many at the top of the game though, unfortunately, due to the stupid amounts of money involved.
