Advertising On E-Bay

Have been browsing through Ebay and have found several listings for Dj's offering their services.

Is something you have ever done thought of doing, your thoughts.

I used to have a Classified advert on ebay. I have just ran another for quite a few months. But they asked me to remove the link to my website so have stopped it now. While it never really got any business... being linked to a website with a very high page rank does wonders to the page rank for ones own website.

Just checked my stats. I got 3 bookings from it.
200 people clicked on the link to my website. They spent an average of 5mins visiting 3 pages each. 10% bounced.

You have just made me realise how cheap this form of advertising is and caused me to rethink my listing.

ebay had asked me to remove the link to my website as I was advising people to visit my website for full quote... but now I have simply reworded it to state visit website to check availability and that the quoted price is for limited conditions.

Nobody ever "bought" the listing... but considering how much traffic it brought to my website it is well worth it. Not forgetting that it has helped increase the page rank of the site. My main website has a rank of 4. This new website has now a rank of 2.

Here is new link. Made a 30day listing so better value for money.

I like it actually for some reason - cheeky and all that, but why not - I can't see the harm in it at all - might try it myself actually - If it get's people to the website and generates a booking then that's taken care of the nominal listing fee tenfold.

I will say Lee, are you not leaving yourself open with the 'doesn't charge extra if your party goes on into the small hours' - Some of the 'just one more song brigade' could milk that and take the proverbial mate

It sounds good to the client, and it's a fairly safe thing to offer as it's not going to happen that often - most venues have strict end times.

There are quite strict licencing laws in Scotland. So it rarely happens that event goes past 1am in a Public venue. (Though there is one Wedding venue in Edinburgh that has a 3am licence). Having said that I have played up until 6am at a private venue once.

I just find that it is easier to use that as a selling point as a lot of brides don't know if their venue has a 12midnight or 1am licence. By doing that I don;t get them coming back asking for a revised quote.
