RCF Art 322 - XLR / RCA's ?

Hi Guys

Today as been a good day for me - I won a bid on flea bay for a pair of RCF 322's, excellent condition and under 12 months old for £510 and picked them up as they were only 24 miles away from me, Then I managed to sell my passives a few hours later for near enough the same price :)

My question is regarding hooking them up to my mixer..... I have RCA out puts, no XLRs..... so do I run RCL into jack like I did when I tested them or do I connect them up some other way?

Use xlr all the way back to mixer then use a converter RCA to xlr

Hey guys - whats the difference between the 312's and the 322's?

I have brought from them before and generally they are pretty good - they were a few days late delivering once, but that aside, no problems.

RCF bags are around £40 each or the alternative might be these. (http://www.hotcovers.co.uk/page35.htm) thought they aren't bags, just covers.

The official bags can be found at most retailers.

Cool, Cool. I'm very happy with my purchase, especially seen as I sold my old Passive speakers the same day.

Kinda makes up for the awful experience I had a few weeks ago when I travelled a 600 mile round trip to buy a DAP system from a member of the orange forum and when I got there it didn't even work :/

I used the guy on ebay for my cables for my RCF system.

Van Damme / Neutrik. Thing is its all well and good having a lovely pair of speakers but always better to have good quality interconnects as well.

Can i just add comment on the RCF bags. From what ive seen the bags they have improved them. When i helped my friend Martin the other week with a disco i saw his rcf bags for his 315a (all the 3 series cabs are the same size apart from the 310a)

they have a 100w HF Darren just like your 325a's the 312a have a 50w hf. From what i heard the other week id say they do.

I think i might have to buy myself some more bags then. My RCF ones one of the zips is broke on the bag and also the bottoms are frayed.

The thing i liked about the new design was the strap they have added inside the bag.

Only thing is at the moment im well and truly skint. So wont be able to just yet.

Usually there's a filtered output from the subs, giving only high frequencies to the tops.

RCF changed their speaker design slightly. Now the 312a 315a 310a don't have an EQ button on them.

If your RCF ones have which im assuming so. There is 3 modes on the EQ you can determine which eq mode you are in by looking at the LED on the front of the speaker its right in the middle at the top of the grille.

here are the modes

Red - Turns on the full range sound (best used if your just running tops)
Green - Turns up the Hi/Mid (recommended if your using active subs running through the crossover
Yellow - Voice (used for vocal work and speeches)

If your just using the one sub you could take a xlr from the left and right (top outputs which are the high pass outputs on the subs crossover)

from the connections underneath you take a xlr out from the left and right into your mixer.

If you are using 2 subs similar setup but you only need to wire one side up on each sub (for instance left high pass output to one of your tops and left input to your mixer on one sub) do the same with the other sub

I may be mistaken but i thought the Hot Covers were £ 35 each and the Falcon covers were £ 59 a pair :confused: also the Hot Covers are made of vinyl and will rip if not careful were the Falcons are tough canvas ,i think Shakermaker bought some Falcons and he was very pleased with the quality.

How do you figure that out the price for a pair is just short of £ 60 :confused: Just put 1 in quanity i buy from here on a regular basis if not sure give them a ring nice people.

Bit of an update - I've been looking for some ART 705As Subs to go with these and just had a call from the manager of the Music Station Swansea offering me their Display Model that I saw today for £649!

Well bet everyone knows what I'll say as I am a big fan of the RCF active cabs, I have quite a collection of them now and the 322s are IMO the best 12 inch active cab for affordable money, true there are better but not in the price bracket. The 322s shine over the 312s for throw in larger rooms and also for microphone work. The top is very powerful without being in your face.

Dunno about Absolute recommending Falcon for RCFs, only a couple of weeks ago I bought genuine RCF covers from Absolute for a pair of 322s, they are actuallly listed as being for the 312s covers but fit perfect, £80 the pair. They are a bit like the cheapo Sound Lab ones but far better quality, I have used the genuine RCF bags for ages now for various sizes and never experienced a faulty zipper or any tears. I use Hot Covers for bins and rate those too, true they are a kind of plastic padded stuff but they appear to last, the little plastic badges drop off but that's prob the way I chuck them about. I have never been that impressed with Falcon or Gigskinz. For my larger kit I use Custom Covers but they are much more money but more or less indistructable. made out of a heavy duty woven nylon material like the stuff they use on curtain sided lorries.

RCA to XLR will be ok as long as you don't use any really long runs of cables. Please don't take offence but to get the best out of those speakers you will need a better mixer and one with balanced outputs too.
