Hi Guys

I have just purchased a QTX FX900 Haze machine and was looking for some info.
On the forum, someone was saying that they "pre haze" a room before the guests arrive and that the haze should last approx 2-3 hours.

I have used my haze machine at two gigs and was very unimpressed with it. I put out a fair bit of haze, and within approx 1 min it was gone!
Last nights venue had air con, don't think the other venue did.

Do you think I have been unlucky with the venues?
How does everyone else rate their haze machines?

Thanks in advance.

Mike.

profesional haze systems ( df50, MDG atmosphere, concept phantom) will produce haze that will hang in rooms for quite some time ( my concept phantom will produce haze that will last for 2 or so hours after the machine has ben switched off in rooms without external type air-con) but these systems are very different from the "smoke machine with a fan" type haze machines sold at the cheaper end of the market

so, im afraid it is a case of the old fashioned phrase " you get what you pay for"

Not what I wanted to hear, but thanks.

Just out of interest, which machine have you got? If I google QTX FX900 I get two different machines come up, this one for £142.48:

And this one for £69.00:

They look like very different machines though...??

Hi Julian
It's the first one, although I paid less than that for it.

I use the acme hazer / fogger.

Its all about the venue with the door open / air con ..

I have some that i use very little because it last in the room but other times have to use loads because I'm next to a door or it has a air con system witch take air in and out the room so it will take your haze.

Thanks for that, I would like to think that it may be the venue, or I am still getting used to it!

There great machines have you got the fan or fanless system, how much residue does it leave,i used to have a df50 in one of my clubs but played hell with some of the delicate lighting effects.

I love my haze... i wanted to order an other one but not got round to it yet..

Also try mixing some normal smoke fluid with some of the low haze to make it a little thicker.

I got some fluid from DJkit said acme but come and it was soundlab. It was really rubbish and could not see i have hazer on full non stop all night and did not even see it in the air. i used that much the tanks was gone at the end of the night ..

I mixed some normal fluid and its now like the acme fluid I used

As far as I know it is fanless. It does seem to leave a bit of residue. I tested it in the conservatory at night. it looked really good, but did seem to leave a slight residue on the roof!

It is a very good system. The DF50 soes suffer from residue issues as it is a "wet" oil haze system. The haze quality is very good, but over time it does leave deposits.

I stopped running df50's 3 years ago for the very reasons you describe

The concept phantom units i run now leave absolutely no residue at all. Over christmas i had one of these machines in one venue for 6 weeks - a marquee venue that seats 1500 for dinner, so quite a size.

Over that period, we had no deposits on anything, even on the lamps right next to the machine.

this gives you an idea. The heavy fog is from my Le Maitre Freezefog pro, not the haze machine...

and from a different tented venue, 2500 capacity:

so, highly recommended.

i can guarantee there not.
I do a fair bit of TV / film work with these machines amongst live events, and despite being expensive they more than earn their money. No water based system can compete, and i would not be able to use them for the work i do.

but, of course it is horses for courses, and for your application they may well be ideal.
