Securing heads to truss plate

I am looking at ratchet straps and bungy cords at the moment unless anyone has got any other suggestions?

I will probably get the top plates drilled and use bolts, but I have a couple of heads on their way for me to demo, so I'll need to wait to decide what I use.

Wilkinsons have some decent ratchet straps. My brothers a pipe lagger and out of all the ones he uses, he swears by the Wilko ones

That's what I was looking at, but almost a tenner for delivery!! :eek:

if they are going onto of truss in the way your doing yes.
either over the base and under the truss or through the handles but norm over the base.
Might be worth getting some longer ones as they have more used and you can always hide the slack.

I was considering that, but where would you hide the slack?

try flints - they seem to only have 8m longs ones but might be cheaper on delivery and can always cut to length and re-seal the end with a lighter?

several ways, either wrap it round and round wich takes time and is very dull at the end of the night!!

coil and tape or truck coil and thread through then poke the coil behind the light or into the handle of it.

only think with them is they have hooks which form experience can be a bit of a pain and the endless ones can look a lot neater and have more uses in the entertainment field.

I'm having a blonde moment. How do the "endless" ones connect to the moving heads? I was planning on getting the Thomann ones and the hooks could go on the carrying handles of the fixture.

sadly not but where theres will theres a way - maybe mount the head using those holes for the hanging brackets to a piece of black wood the same size as the truss then strap the wood?

Or just feed the strap through those holes on each side and underneath, pulling tight and ratcheting under the base plate. Surely that will have the same effect?

guess it would assuming strap fit through the holes.

The strap is 2.5cm and judging by the fact that the dimensions are 28 x 28 x 30, I reckon the holes look big enough.

job the slack of then use a lighter or hob to tidy the freyed bits.

or red hot butter knife and just glide through the strap wich would leave a neater finish.

I mount my moving heads on some truss columns on weighted bases. I use ratchet straps to hold them down. I cover the truss in some sleeves I made and tuck the surplus inside this.
