Staying in Torquay overnight this coming Saturday as part of a stag weekender, just wondered if anyone in those parts could recommend any good pubs and clubs to go to and indeed ones to steer clear of.

There's 20 of us, so as best man I need to pre-warn a club or two we're coming beforehand.

I'll ask my niece and her husband for you (they live there). Mind you, seeing as they are a singer and comedian respectively, I'm not sure how much of the night-life they actually get to see!

Spent 4 days there in September, the Town Centre is packed with good night-life, and a high presence of the ever-thinning 'Blue Line' in the early hours. Couldn't comment on any in particular as didn't get a chance to visit, due to the main purpose of being there, to watch Jayne McDonald live. :D
Car parking is a real nightmare, at any time !!, but I guess on a 'staggie' you'll mainly be on foot or using taxis. ;)
Quieter pubs and restaurants with good food can be found along the length of the Babbacombe Road.
Nearby Teignmouth is also worth looking into for an excursion ;)
Hope you enjoy it mate.

We were going to do an all in one package like that Steve but it works out a helluva lot cheaper to do it ourselves. We have a full day grand prix (http://www.cornwallkarting.com/) arranged in St.Eval, Cornwall before we travel to Torquay for our night out.

We're staying cheap and cheerful in a Travel Lodge and on Sunday we're going clay pidgeon shooting, then onto the pub for a hairy dog lol :)

Yeah sometimes these weekends can go off a lot better when everything happens spontaneously. Chances are you won't see much of your hotel bed mate :D :D The hardest part is keeping the gang together. Be prepared to lose a few though Mark.

Have a good one Mark:)

Sounding not unlike the one I went on with my now Son in Law. I'll tell you about it one day. ;) ;) ;)  :zip:

By the way, watch out for the herds of Wildebeeste galloping majestically across the plains. ;)

Helpful as your post is, I suspect that even as we speak, young Mark is nursing a hangover, and wondering whose stupid idea it was to go Clay Pigeon Shooting!! And trying to avoid these.

While I bow to your superior knowledge of Geography and Wildlife, my initial reference was to the quote in Fawlty Towers: What do you expect to see from a Torquay hotel window? Sydney Opera house? Herds of Wildebeeste sweeping majestically across the plains? "

:D :D :D :D :D :D
