Well, what a night! :D :D :D :D :D For various reasons, I had a little ride out tonight. First stop was near Barnsley, where I met Starzsounds in his Sanctum Sanctorum. The guy's a legend. How many folk have a club just to test their kit in? And handy, too. Less than a stone's throw from his front door. And I got to meet his lovely young Lady, who is way prettier than he is. ;) After a quick speaker demo, and a lighting display, it was time to say a hurried goodbye, and head across ten miles to Wakefield, to see Davesounds.
In the process, I passed a Store where I worked for Alan @Blacktie, the house of one of my day job customers, a day job supplier, and a garage where we went to look at buying a car!! Small world, eh? :D :D :D :D After a slight numeracy problem, I found Dave, and was ushered into Aladdin's Other Cave!!!
If it runs on electricity, and flashes, or makes a noise, or flashes and makes a noise, he's got one. ;) And I thought I was a hoarder!! ( mind you, a lot of the kit he's got is surplus junk, I've given him. ;) :D :D :D :D :D :D ) Splendid bloke Dave, and for anyone in East or West Yorkshire, give him a bell for your PAT testing. He's excellent value, reliable, knowledgeable, and scrupulously fair without being picky.
So, after a quick coffee and a lighting demo at Dave's it was time to head across the border into Lancashire, to see young Steve ( Womble)Blimey, but there are parts of Lancashire which are a bit bleak!! I found Steve's domicile, and interrupted his dining arrangements. Sorry mate. :( :( After the third lighting demo of the evening, it was time to head back onto the M62, and return to Yorkshire. It wasn't helped by the amount of roads they'd closed either, and it was a relief to get back near Goole. The M62's always empty at that end, cos nobody wants to go to Goole or Hull. ;) :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
Anyway, thanks to Martin, Dave and Steve, hope the kit works well for you.

Well I've been at it again. I passed one of my amps along to a forum member as cover for a blown one of his. Rather than get his mended, he asked to buy mine, so I was thus one amp down. I had always been intending to buy one more, so I now needed two amps. :( I've been keeping my eyes open for a while, and this wekend, a veritable plethora of suitable ones came onto Ebay. ( And after I'd got what I wanted, someone posted exactly what I wanted on here. Hey ho. )
I contacted a seller who had not had a bid on his auction a while back, and the amp was still for sale. Price lowered, bringing it into my budget, and the chap lived within travelling distance. Sunday afternoon, and I'm sat by the PC, bidding for a second amp, and surprisingly, I got it for a good price. When I start checking, it turns out that the two sellers live less than five miles apart!!
So, I arrange to pick them both up tonight, and while I'm in the area, go to see Davesounds to take him the dead amp for repair if possible, and collect some gear he's mended to bring back to its owner. Simples.
Well, not when I'm involved. I set up the sat nav to visit them in order, and off I go. Five miles from home, text message informs me that seller number one is running late, so I alter the order on the sat nav. Or so I believe. :o :( I arrive at the address, knock on the door, and ask the lady if Chris is in. Blank look. We then realise that I've arrived at the house where the lad's running late, rather than the other one. Oops, silly me. :o
No worries, I'll nip across to where I'd intended to go. 43 Church Hill. I get there, and start counting the numbers. 37, 39, 41, 1. Hold on!!! Where's 43?  In fact, where's the street gone, cos No1 is also in a different street as well!  I'm very worried, cos I've paid for this via paypal. When I ring up, the chap answers, and tells me to keep going. No1 is in a batch of new houses built on a patch of formerly open ground, and is infill. 43 where he lives is at the end of them so panic over, and I pick up my first prize. Back in the car, and back to the first stop. The lad's returned now, and demos my amp in front of me. Money changes hands, and off I go to see Dave.
The kettle is on, and I carry in the dead amp, have a nice chat with him and his lovely wife, and overstay my intended departure time by a lot. We go outside to put the mended gear in the car, and this time, I get to show off my amps to Dave, rather than him showing off his featherweight ones to me.
Back home, and have a rest, and a look on here. And guess what happens tomorrow night. Up to Darlington, to see the lads up there. Yup, a two hundred mile round trip tomorrow night, and further if I swing round to repatriate the kit I brought back from Dave to its rightful owner.
