The more and more I use DJintelligence the more I get frustrated by it.

It does not offer any customer billing information.

They can make payments, but can't see balances/payments etc on line.

Does anyone have this issue and if so how do you deal with it?

I thought about bolting on a billiling package but that then makes it a two stage process.

DJI want's you to purchase ewebadmin ...even more money!!! just to add on the missing features!!!

DJEP all the way for me....

It does everything DJI and webmin does... in one :D

This was the deciding factor against DJi for me.
When I found that DJEP had more tools to aid the business side of things, I took out a trial and then purchased a 1 year subscription.

I'm unsure if DJEP will automatically show client payments (I'm on the basic package, and have to manually add payments. Not a problem IMO as I prefer to manually acknowledge each payment anyway)

Some people prefer the client side of the DJi, and it may be worth comparing the two from a clients perspective.

Now Alex you would say that.....

Are you still offering a 3 month trial on DJEP and is it easy to switch from one system to another to convert over exisiting clients in DJI?

I have a while left on DJI until it expires and I don't want to take the hit financially right away.

I knew this would be the answer, but I am still intrested to hear if peeps are using billing software online?

Thanks for the replies

Happy DJEP user here, almost 3 years now...very pleased with it although I don't use the billing side of it, the payment tracker amongst other features are worth their weight in gold.

I believe there is a DJ(unin)intelligence importer of some description available although i've never had to use it.

I would like DJEP to mature into the online billing sector by interfacing with companies like protx for example, that would be so perfect.

@welby

I coded my own system. That my clients use for the bookings and make payment in paypal.

I can help you code one. So it does everything you want it to so.

I considered coding my own - I code PHP4, PHP5, ASP.NET and others...
But... for ~£100 per year (and tax deductible), I decided my time was worth more. I daresay even a basic system would take much more than 4hrs (charging £25/hr).
Fine if you're actually advertising this as a service (aka going into competition with DJEP/DJi).

If you don't consider your time valuable, then of course coding your own is possible and its nice to have 100% control, and also leave the security of my clients data to a business that has the infrastructure in place - self-hosting of this type of thing could lead to lost information (how many DJ's back-up their site+database daily? not many, I will be very sure!).

I do no what your saying. I'm not going into competition with them as it just code no design what i have done just goes on to my site.

I like to look at my site and say i did all the work on that.

But you could get a fully coded system for like £40 thats.

Backups are done from the hosting compony you are with. The one im with has backup and a shadow backup so it take to backups of your site every day.

But i do back mine up every week it just a click and download in the cpanel

Rowley,

I admire your effort and looked at your site.

It would seem you would need a certain element of manual time to keep your system upto-date and to be honest I had already done this type of "booking system".

I found I spent a lot of time moving data from one area to another to keep up-to-date and to keep the customer informed.

I am trying to get away from all this manual intervention, hence I opted for DJI, but sadly as more and more I use DJI, my expectations are getting higher and higher.

My customers like the fact that can now geta quote/book/choose songs online. The only thing that lacks in DJI is any form of financial reporting back to the customer.

I don't like the fact that DJI are trying to get you to sign up for another piece of software to complete the jigsaw.

With hindsight I should have opted for DJEP.

You live and learn.

P.S. - Oh By the way - another sting in the tale - there is no convertor for DJI into DJEP as DJI use forms and it does not have a database to hold records! Oh slap me why don't you!

I trialed DJEP and never really got going with it because I didn't give it any time to be honest. I then went on a SEDA seminar and Ian Forest sold it me. When I say sold I mean his presentation was that good I 're-visited' DJEP.

I emailed stephen at DJEP and got another trial and any numpty questions I had were answered brilliantly and promptly. I took out a year subscription after the trial ended.

I still don't use all the features but get out of it what I want and am more than happy with it. I will start using more of the features when I get more time to initially set things up, which reminds me I have to update the calender as it needs a serious update at the moment!
