View Full Version : What has made you UNhappy this week?

Getting back from an interesting (think Libya) but enjoyable sunny week in Malta then straight into Derek's excellent seminar on Sunday, raring to get going on a bunch of new projects...

... and spending 3 days delirious mostly in bed or calling Hughie with the most outrageous flu I can remember since my teens.

I've had a few hours of lucidity today but I feel like I've been kicked down 3 flights of stairs by the Mitchell brothers :(

So apologies to anyone who's waiting on stuff from me; I'll be with you soon when my mind can focus on more than where the next tissue is coming from or whether moomins were really white or how much William Hague is beginning to look a bit like Eisenhower :bag:

Going to buy my wife a new car and finding out it will cost me £4000 more than originally intended to spend.

What has made me UNhappy this week?

Well, being in pain hasn't helped but the painkillers seem to be doing their trick now.

Also, sat there on wednesday afternoon and picked out a 66/1 winner on the horses and didn't do it.

Having held a full clean licence since Feb 1974, a notice of intended prosecution for being nabbed by a speed camera at 38 mph last week.
It comes with an alternative offer of paying for a 3.5 hour "Speed
Awareness Course" and thereby avoiding the £60 fine & 3 points :o
Apparently I will be shown videos of Road Accident Victims so could offset the cost of not having to hire "Saw 7"  :o

Mum's lost £4 grand a year with her job, so I had to deal with her being upset last night.

We struggle as it is but this is just crazy. I'll help her out a bit more.

Worst thing for me was waking up this morning. :o

I use to be terrible with money at your age Charlie money would burn a hole in my pocket.

Saying that I had my own place at 18 and "paying your own way" gives you a good feeling plus it helps you spend your money better. Doesnt mean you cant do the fun things in life.

I've had a fairly grubby one over that period, and having borrowed my son's van ( which compared to mine, is like an F1 racer!! ) got clocked at 36mph. :( Since the Course was actually dearer than the fine, and I can live with three points on the licence, it wasn't a "phone a friend " question, but £60 coming out of the disco account, was very painful.

Point of order. Waking up is often deemed to be a good sign. ;)

The Jury here will be out for most of the permitted 4 months  ;)

With the course @ £80 the points work out at £6.66 each, but I stay 'clean'
I would ask for advice from the forum but that invites a 'pricing' thread ( ) and might also lead to a dilemma of which "Deal or no deal" would be proud :o

I'm so sorry to instigate a pricing thread so soon after you wished to avoid one, but as you can imagine: £80??? " You'll never get that round here. " ;) ;) ;) ;)

Only £75 here mate. ;)

Since the Course was actually dearer than the fine

The fine, though, isn't tax deductible.

Depending how it's presented, the "training course" (and associated travel & subsistence expenses) could well be ;)

I won't mention what's likely to happen at insurance renewal time :daft:

Bloody regular venues that think you can book at DJ last minute and despite telling them last time about booking at least a few weeks in advance that they just dont get it! AAAAAAAHHHHHHHH stressing myself out trying to cover it!.

I could just turn around and say we cant do it. Thing is they have a coach load of kids coming from other schools so dont want them to lose out.

Had to be the worst flu I have had in many a year and thats saying something. Still feeling very tired with headache after 9 days but at least I can now move witout pretty flashing lights. (and I dont mean the disco)

My main play-out laptop has almost died. Works in safe-mode. But keeps Blue Screening instead of starting in normal mode. Using back-up tonight!!
Kids have vomitting sickness and I am 200 miles away from home and won't be back until late on Wednesday doing corporate gigs in Harrogate. So you could say putting a brave face on. Lee

The Debt Collection Department of the business ( My wife   ) going round to remind a customer that a relatively big bill was unpaid, and being told they didn't have the money to pay it! :( :( :(

It's not just labour, I've already stumped up hundreds on this one for plant and materials, so very painful.

The money will come, but it could be in dribs and drabs. Ah well.
