Thought i might as well re-sign up, as a read the forum regular. I suppose you could say i know Abyssdjhire (liam).

I am a partner (50%) in both Abyssdjhire and Abyss Audio and Lighting sales. Although we don't really take on many gigs anymore because quite frankly i got sick of people and the crap music, which wasn't what i started out wanting to do. So now we only take particular gigs that appeal to us, and know that when we do that gig we ARE the best that anyone could of choose for the job. :p Anyway enough talking and hello.

Out of curiosity Keri, what gigs DO appeal to you?

I have read your post several times and can only conclude, what a conceited attitude! I say conceited, because at the tender age of 20, it cannot really be cynicism, nor can you have gleaned years of experience to say you're the best.

I'm sorry but i you are "sick of people" and the music the CUSTOMER wants to hear, then you are in the wrong business.

Right the gigs that appeal to me are not "discos"....... I enjoy doing, dance, drum and bass, old skool, R&B can be ok and so on. Also Rock.

What i don't like is the drunk people spitting in my face when there talking, and people thinking they can speak however they want to me because after all your only the disco you don't relly count.

How many people have on there websites the No1 disco, or the best in blah blah....... All i know is that when im doing something that i fully injoy and doing what i set out to do i am providing the "best" service i can! And i think that i/we provide what we do to one of the highest standards. After all if i don't think i can be the best i never will be the best.

Edit: if you notice the sticking out tongue face after where i said "the best" you'd also read my hint of sarcasum. Or do you just have no sense of humour.....

if i look at your website, A1DL, i expect to find somewhere text that reads along the lines of "we are not the best, but we will do".

we aren't a disco, and we dont take disco bookings - therefore, we aren't in the wrong business at all, we're just not in YOUR business, thankfully.

you might enjoy being excluded from the "thanks to ..." speeches and be happy getting paid half of what a photographer does for double the effort, but we aren't - so we dont do it.

i do like the part about the "years of experience" though... its so stereotypical and predictable, to say the least. if i told you to go and work down a sewer, you would complain...but having only worked down there for a year, for example, you wouldnt have gained "years of experience" to know that you dont really like it...

so what you're basically saying is that unless you have "years of experience", you dont have the right to dislike something?

Your website states you do Childrens Parties from £150 and Discos from £200, I'm sure most people reading that would assume you are fairly and squarely in the mobile disco business.

The website is being changed and the old one will be taken down but for now it can stay up. If someone phones up and ask for a kids party we don't take it, most we will take is 16ths usually if they want the nightclub feel. And we use the word discos because we do, do weddings and its the word disco that someone is going to type even if thats not really what there looking for. We've done many weddings where people have wanted strictly no cheese and have wanted old skool dance sets etc. We even worked with another dj on one with scratching and so on. So yes the word "disco" is there but when people contact us they know what they want.
busted :teeth:

Hmmmmm no :)

Thanks for clarifying. All makes sense now, and would have before, had I read further on your site, where you detail your industry standard 1,400w amplifier and Wharfedale speakers, as installed in all top dance clubs. :teeth:

Our speakers are powered by an amazing BEHRINGER amplifier which outputs at 700watts per channel. Our research has shown that the majority of mobile dj and disco services use 500watt amplifiers. Hearing this with our own ears we decided this was not enough. Far from enough. Our amplifier outputs 700watts a side, equaling to 1400watts, which is 2.8x more power than the average service provides. The BEHRINGER EP1500 amplifier is also one of the most stable amplifiers on the market. Where other amps will fail at higher volumes, the EP1500 has enough kick in it to be able to power your whole event with amazing clarity for the whole night without running out of breath

And we use the word discos because we do, do weddings and its the word disco that someone is going to type even if thats not really what there looking for.

Ummm, someone PLEASE tell me why has it taken so many years in business and a hefty six figure advertising spend in that time, before I finally saw the light..... Advertise what the Customer ISN'T looking for, then sell them what YOU want to because you KNOW what they want! That's so simple, it's bloody genious!!!

Nite all,

I've just got to this thread and read it all, and all I can say is - can members please refrain from criticising each other?

Each to their own. There are different markets out there and we don't all market the same one (I'm glad to say).

I do not want members to start slanging matches with each other, so PLEASE LEAVE IT THERE! Any more posts in that vein will be deleted - whoever they're from.
