Bit of a weird one! I have a dilema. I have stored my vinyl collection in my mums garage for years!!! Now and quite rightly so she would like to reclaim the garage.

Question? How damaged will the vinyl be? I have got thousands of 12" and LP's in there and I will a test couple, but I am not obviously going to go through them all!

Has anybody got any experience of this?

I really don't want to get rid of them as I am a hoarder when it comes to DJ stuff!

Today is the day that I need to make the decision!!!

Options are my loft or a skip:eek:

Cheers MAX

The condition of the outer covers should be a good indicator. I've stored vinyl in garages for years with no problems. But it all depends how "damp" your garage gets.

I would never take my collection to the skip!!!!!

I bought an old wardrobe for £10 and stored them inside that in the garage, no problem. Most of them are still there.
If you decide to sell them on there are a couple of companies on the net who buy vinyl but only if you catalogue them. (e.g. www.eil.com). I did this and was only offered £500 for thousands of discs. The other alternative, which I also did, was renting a table at a big record fair through www.vip-24.com. I went to the Olympia fair and made £600 after expenses. Only problem is I still came back with over 3/4 of my vinyl. I'm planning on going again this year. Have a look on their site, theres loads of different locations. I was advised not to bother with the small fairs as they don't generate much cash.
