Well its not like Barcelona had a clear penalty turned down or out played Arsenal... plus they aren't really an English team are they?

They are an english team, just don't have english players!

Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Kieron Gibbs, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Graig Eastmond, James Shea, Conor Henderson, Mark Randell, Henri Lansbury, Gavin Hoyte and many many more.
No, no English players at all.
The only thing that matters is how many goals are scored, not the amount of possession. It it was that then we'd have won the league by now.
The ref ruined the game by sending RVP off. There were 95,000 fans inside the stadium FFS.

Well its not like Barcelona had a clear penalty turned down or out played Arsenal...I didn't watch the game, but I knew Barca would have pinned them back much like they did in the first half at the Emirates.
How about these for stats : Shots Barcelona 19 Arsenal 0 Passes Barcelona 724 Arsenal 119
OK, stats don't decide the winners, but Arsenal can't have too much of a complaint by the sounds of it
Jack Wilshere, Theo Walcott, Kieron Gibbs, Jay Emmanuel-Thomas, Graig Eastmond, James Shea, Conor Henderson, Mark Randell, Henri LansburyI've only heard of the first three, and only Walcott and Wilshere could be considered first team players.
The ref ruined the game by sending RVP off. There were 95,000 fans inside the stadium FFS.It does sound like a very harsh sending off.

First two are regulars thats it and both aren't really "first name on the teamsheet" players.
You wouldn't of scored any goals tonight if they hadn't headed the ball in themselves for you!

We'll never know now....I think you'll find both are first names on the teamsheet.
Lansbury scored against the scum from White Hart Lane, very good player, Gibbs is back up for Clichy and some say better than him, just been unfortunate with injuries.

Another ......... thread Ahhh.
Why not put the whole title at the start?
I clicked on this and have no interest in football.
Just a waste of my time IMO.

Even with the rest of it, it could be anything. Tennis, chess, tiddly winks, the list is endless.

If you have no interest, don't post.
"Why don't referees..." Is pretty obviously about the football.

I think that you'll find that the referees are only acting on the instructions of UEFA, and particularly Mr Platini, who has a total hatred of British Football and the way it is played. With the final being staged at Wembley, it would be the end of the world for him if it ended up being between two English Clubs.
I have no love for Arsenal at all, and for large periods of the game they were totally outplayed, but the sending off in Barcelona's favour is quite usual. If you look back over previous seasons, its is a regular feature. As for the behaviour of some of the Barca players, if Arsenal had acted in the same way, there would have been more sendings off.

My local team, Barcelona :D :D :D
Even I thought the sending off was OTT. Barca deserved the win though, absolutely dominated both legs. :guinness:

Totally agree, just a shame that Platini has to interfere, just to make sure!

Me neither.
I have no interest in any sport. I would sooner be listening to tunes than watching 22 men kick round a bag of wind ;)

the sending off was rediculous, but i agree Arsenal didnt deserve to win. the amount of dubious decisions recently seems to be increasing. decisions made by the refs can affect the outcome of the game, and potentially the winning (or losing) of a cup or league. this in turn can cost a club millions of pounds.
im not surprised that players & managers often react poorly to bad referee decisions. i think its time that refs were held to account for the decisions they make, and that a TV ref is introduced.

I wouldn't say it was completely obvious, there are plenty of other sports with referees & the word referee doesn't have to have sporting connotations.
Here's a hint for you Toby (if you bother reading this thread again). If you hold your cursor over the thread title, the first paragraph appears without having to open the thread.

Constant football threads are starting to get on my nerves. Why can't we have one "Football Thread" for all things football, like we did in the old days?
