Evening All,

I have recently moved into the world of DMX and acquired 4 NJD 250s.

I am struggling to be able to get them.
to operate in DMX mode sound to light (i.e. inked but with no controller)

Also if I have them linked to a controller can I still get them to operate sound to light?

What I want to do is to be able to leave them running sound to light but be able to switch to a programme mode intermittently (say, go all white in slow sweep mode during a 1st dance)then back to sound to light.

I have the NJD Datacon1 controller for these.
Hope someone can help.

cheers
Steve

You need the DMXCON1, the Datacon1 is for the datamoons.
I use the DMXCON1 and do exactly what you want to do, I can leave them to sound to light and then slow them down when required or change the colour.
I hope you can figure the dips out yourself, if you cant let me know I will have to dig the lights out.

Thanks for the replies. Actually that was an error on my part . The controller I have is the DMX CON1. I just can't suss out the dip switches other than when making some switches, the lights don't light/move. Even reading the manual for the lights doesn't help me much.

Any further help in getting a good variety of movement/colour would be a help.
I am planning to put two on stands, with two floor standing. I have just about sussed the x-rev function but that's about it!
I'm hoping to add two datamoons also on stands to have 6 units in total. i would image a decent show from that lot if I get it all to work OK :)

DMX is a whole new world having moved from standalone units and I have a wedding in a couple of weeks which I'd like to be able to use them at to good effect.

Cheers
Steve

What do you want to do - have all the scanners doing the same thing or having colour changing and sequence movements (I assume, according to the manual, working together but with different colours and patterns)

I'd like to start by understanding how to programme them properly so I can get them to do both those things with varying results.
Ideally I want to be able to leave them sound to light but with the option of changing colours/sequence manually as necessary.

In which case you need a proper DMX controller and not the one you currently have.

I've read the manual and to be honest, if you are struggling with the controller you have, then you'll have no chance with a full DMX controller.

If you read the manual, it tells you what dip switches to set to use them in a set of 4 - have you done that yet?

The controller isn't the problem.I can get all the 4 lights to move in sync with patterns etc, but don't seem to be able to get a sound to light reaction. They just move through the sequences at varying speeds depending upon how I set the controller. This does not seem to alter with sound on or off.

You can get them to do sound to light by turning the bottom knob fully anti-clockwise. Don’t forget the mic is in the controller so the placement of it can have an effect.
You can get them to change colour in sequence even with a datamoon or two in the chain, I used to have the rig setup with a scanner either side and two datamoons in the middle and setup so that I could get them to change colour one after another or all at the same time.
