Light Stand

Hi all,

I want to mount my lcd screeens and a single LCD light fitting onto a tripod with a pole of 35mm diameter.

NO serious weight here LCD screen 5kg and lcd 3kg.

I have tried a lighting tripod, but on the top horizontal T-pole is the only part that is 35mm.

I need the pole to be 35 mm all the way up as my lcd and tophat fittings are both 35mm.

I did think about using a speaker tripod but I can't find one that extends over 6ft. Makes sense I guess.

I know I can get 10ft 35mm aliuminium poles but not in black powder coating.

Has anyone got any ideas if there is such a thing commercially available?

Are you looking for this in one section ?, 'cos if it was 3m long and 35mm diameter all the way up, it wouldn't telescope down. :confused:
Speaker tripods generally seem to terminate around 2m :)

I spotted these yesterday while trawling the internet - but was concerned about the size of base.

It's a trade off I guess - yes Kernow a 5-6ft pole 35mm Outside Diamater all the way up would be a godsend.

I was wondering if I could find a way of joining two 35mm speaker poles together?

I did consider 35mm compression fittings but have my doubts.

Just a idea may or not work use a stand with 32mm pole then see if a 35mm pole will slip over the 32mm pole,you could then use any speaker stand and just cut your larger pole to the height you require.

I might be able to rig up a locking pin just for good measure.

At the risk of stating the obvious - can't you just change the 35mm fittings to 32mm ones?

Or there's adaptors to step down the top hat from 35mm to 32mm - not sure if there's a similar sleeve type adaptor for the column though, but wouldn't be difficult to knock one up. 35mm sleeve to slide over a 32mm pole, then a small clamp attached to the 32mm pole to stop it sliding down.

No, not after spending good money on them.

I need 35 mm to match my fittings - Powerdrive do one - thats worth a look....

Ok I have a solution...

a combination of your suggestions and sheer good luck....(er rummaging around the garage) :daft:

PARTS NEEDED

1 X bass bin to speaker - adjustable pole
1 X speaker tripod

INSTRUCTIONS:

1. for the base just use the tripod (remove top section)
2. split the bass bin adjustable pole and put the top section of the speaker pole into that.
3. slot the modified bass bin adjustable pole into the tripod and slide cotter pin and safety catch in and tighten knob

RESULT:

1 adjustable 35mm pole all the way up to over 7 feet or more

All I am saying is see if you can purchase the stand seperate, which comes with the parbar. its 35 mm all the way up and extends to at least 7 foot
