Interesting idea, set up a website that looks like its an Independent source for Brides then BINGO the best person to hire is unsurprisingly the person who wrote it ( it appears to me) Band or DJ --doesnt matter. same person.

Do I believe 64 per cent of Brides who hired a Band wished they had hired a DJ---nope:(

Does illegal music sound rubbish--no how can it with modern technology, I have heard rumours of people who record music off Tube via Laptop and play it on Mini Disc, sounds perfect ( apparently )

I loved the part that said if your DJ can't answer 'Yes' to all the questions on the left then you could be booking the wrong DJ.

It's a blatant attempt to catch clicks based on certain keywords, make the visitor think they're looking at an authoritative site, then funnel them to a "specialist" who can help them.

Sadly, it's been done very badly indeed and does nothing for

a) the industry in general
b) the relationship with these potential clients, as to start off on a lie isn't good

Questionable practice executed poorly IMHO.

There is a plce in each market for every operator and each client has a budget.

Stopping at £400 is a bit silly for high end and there is no reason a DJ who charges £150 will not have PLI and PAT.
They might just not be very good or deluded in their pricing. :)

I quite like the look of the site and may persue something like this for the member of the Southampton get together as they are all serious players.

I will leave out all the slander and just advise people on what to look for :D

There are no lies , just a lot of maybe's and what if's so feel free to phone trading standards , it's clearly obvious who made the site and the idea is to educate the customer on various price bands and what to expect in my area .

The £400 is based on local work evening only and I don't believe any quality operator would turn there nose up at .

The statistics I believe were taken from the mobile Dj handbook I think it's called and I lowered the numbers and said more than rather than quoting exact figures as there posted on websites all over the place and I didn't want google picking up duplicate content .

The prices are based on a survey I did by contacting loads of local dj's most of which didn't get back to me when I asked for proof of PAT or PLI so that's where the Unlikely bit comes in.


Ive showed the site to a few " quality " operators who had no issue's , I showed it to mid range dj's who are now upping there game and charging more.

Only ones that were unhappy were the budget cash in hand guys which makes me ask , what kind of operator doesn't want there client to know the difference between a budget disco and a quality disco ?

As for not replying sooner - I didn't know it was here till mark text me , Ive been too busy taking bookings that originated from that site LOL

It's clearly a marketing trick along similar lines of cheapdisco.com , Wedding Dj Prices is one of the most common search terms for a bride to be looking for various quotes , that site gives them ballpark quotes and contact details for reasonably priced quality operators .


Surprised nobody else did something similar.


The site is advertised where budget operators do and for the 10+ £250-£400 gigs confirmed with deposits and contracts for a £7 domain name and chucking that together on my lunch break it's been worth while.

Possibly but I don't think I got as far as times . Soon as they mentioned club Dj to do a wedding in edinburgh area on a date I was booked you were the first person I thought of.


I always tell them the Dj I passed on there details so they can return the favour at some point but I dont think many do.

If you've generated that many bookings already...with a good web developer + SEO man/woman...you could generate some steady cash. ;)

I was testing the water by doing Scotland first , but as I have no interest in working in London etc then I'd be happy to do that.

Having had a good think about it and having read through all the comments, I am of the same opinion as Charlie that this is a good idea and could be quite a money maker. The vast majority of my business comes through organic Google searches and Davy has been pretty smart to capitalise on the search terms he is seeing through his web stats. I really fail to see how Trading Standards would have an issue; this is standard practice for many companies such as justhost - a web hosting company who have swamped the search results with pages leading back to them. Some may call it bad practice but at the end of the day, as long as you don't write false information then good on you for having the initiative.

The website does need a bit of work - perhaps get someone to work on the wording. I do think the design needs tweaked, it reminds me of those 'we buy all your unwanted gold' websites. Other than that, good on you for showing some entrepreneurial spirit. I would happily pay to list on this site once you get it finished.

I asked for opinions on another forum and got several different coments , since then there have been different opinions posted on here . The bandwagon comment was down to the fact in the first post mark even said who's site it was and with all the complaints and remarks not 1 person contacted me regarding it yet there's was many feeling so strongly against and even wanting to envolve trading standards.

That's when mark text me to let me know about the topic explaining there was no malice intended.

Re - bookings , I'm getting a lot of traffic from that site and it's only been running a few months. It's filled a lot of empty dates I had this year and a few for next year in that time . The dates booked I've just given contact details for other DJs last week alone over 5 leads were passed on to other DJs .one Dj converted 2/3 I passed him and I don't know about the rest.


Must be doing something right . £7 for a domain name for 2 years and a few hours max setting it up including registering it to building it to generate that amount of work , Can you say your marketing converts that many for a £7 outlay.

I know mark found 2 more but there's another 5 or 6 on my hosting - gotta love unlimited domains and bandwidth.
