My club wants to change its projector screen for a large TV - They've been approached to hire one for £11 a week - but at £572 a year I'm saying that's crazy as they are so cheap now.
I'm seeing HD Plasma and LCD for £600-900 online (LG/Samsung/Panasonic)
It's mostly for watching Sky Sports in HD
As usual a friend of the club is offering them a bargain at £1900 (not secondhand - from a shop).

My question - what would the club be missing if they bought any decent HD 50" for £600 compared to a super duper one £1900?

id say a cheap one will be fine and better for the bank, hd is hd, the monitor is only as good as its interconnects, and after all it is a club and most people will have been drinking any way:)

Take a look at this one Here (http://www.play.com/Electronics/Electronics/4-/13646605/Samsung-Series-450-50-inch-PS50C450B1WXXU-HD-Ready-600hz-Sub-Field-Motion-Plasma-TV/Product.html?_%24ja=tsid:11518%7Ccat:13646605%7Cpr d:13646605)

You pay the extra really for the 'brand' name these days !

Also take a look Here (http://www.directtvs.co.uk/50-59_Inch_Plasma_TVs/prod.asp)

Thank you

This all depends on what spec T.V. the club wants really and also the spec of the 'super duper' T.V being offered?

In all fairness why ask a DJ forum? Just go and see the tv working and see if they think its worth the extra?

Is it hire only, or Hire/Purchase where at the end of the hire term its theirs to keep?

My club had an LG which was fine until the place got broken into and it was stolen.
My advice buy it from John Lewis so you get the free extended warranty & chain it to the wall securely :)

We can buy it - but after 18 months - personally I thought renting TVs went out in the 70s!

get an LCD as plasma tends to reflect everything where LCD doesnt

Plasma is much better for watching sport.

if its just for a club, id go with a cheaper one. drunk people dont really care about picture quality. i use two 22" lcd screens, mostly for karaoke. there just cheap 'acoustic soloutions' sets but do the job fine.

if its a tv for home use, and your into sport & movies get a good one.

i recently paid £1800 for a panasonic 50" 3d. my mates thought i was daft till they saw it, now they all want one.
