Can anyone recommend a good quiet generator

Hi I want a generator to power my biofuel processing plant in my garage.

It needs to be quiet, economical and reliable.
It needs to run two domestic heaters (immersion) and a powerful pump plus lighting.
Oh also a beer fridge and TV :D but thats not essential.

I have looked in to diesiel ones (which is ideal as I use the product and it pays for its self) or a petrol one.
Looking at the Honda one these look pretty nifty. Honda EU10i Generator.

I may also want one to power a couple of active speakers at some point (so its disco related :D).
Also very handy in a black out. :)

Do not know if this would be powerful enough. I can run the pump and heaters separately (ie finish heating and then turn off and run the pump)

Well for one I wouldn't class

52dB(a) at 7m @ 1/4 load

as quiet, especially considering you're going to need 4 of them all running at full load :p

Not exactly silent but not too noisy so that a neighbour about 30m away can hear it or more to the point at the level where they will complain. :)

As long as you get the 6 peoples permission and you take into account volt drop, I cant see it being a problem.
Back when I used to be an electrician I had to run a supply to a pump, the pump was about 750m away from the power source!! (long story). I can’t remember the exact details, but the pump was about 100w, a 20mm SWA cable had to be used!

Yes, I am putting it in my garden for now. Much more practical for titration washing etc. Nearer the beer too.

I wonder how many solar panels, or wind turbines you need for 3.5K ?;)


It's not quite as stupid a suggestion as it sounds, because I did a disco where they had a turbine in the back garden, and sold excess power to the grid.
