Hi have been joking since i decided to have a mid-life crisis that i was going to write a book/guide The How not be a Mobile Dj.

How Not To Set Up A Mobile Disco Business
Also Known As
The Idiots way to be a mobile Dj
So you have been out for the evening may be a friend's wedding or birthday party.
The Dj is off the hook, top quality gear, amazing light show, top tunes and the dance floor was full all night.
You have had a few drinks you have a bit of music knowledge and a huge collection of music (legal or illegal who cares).
Just need to get yourself lights and speakers and an amp job done.
You think to yourself "I could do this, good nights out time with the missus, meet new people and getting paid for having a good time sounds like a plan".
After all how hard can it be.........
This guide was written to avoid you making the same mistakes I have made, I will apologise if I'm covering ground many have covered previously and is readily available IF YOU KNOW WHERE TO LOOK.
The Next Morning.......
Wow what a blast last night, according your aching feet and banging head that is.
"I'm going to be a mobile Dj" you say to yourself
It's the cold light of day and you have sobered up, setting up a mobile disco seems such a good idea still so you decide to look into a bit further, after all you just need to get yourself lights and speakers and an amp job done.
You go on to a web site of a DJ shop you don't really know what you're going to need nothing to expensive.
You decide to order some gear speakers, Dj stand, light controller, all in one mixer and cd player job done your ready to go and even better they do finance on the gear......
STOP
DONT DO IT.....
Back to reality
So you want to be a mobile dj............
Stop
Get some advice and do some thinking
I'm not going to go in to specifics but hear is rough guide to being a Mobile Disco for more in depth info speak to a Dj/ Supplier/ Check out a dj forum.
What You Need To Think About
Music
What format of music are you planning using, Vinyl, CD, MP3 etc
you need to decide this before deciding on your playback device can't play cds on a turntable
or are you just planning on turning up with your lap top and a hard drive of illegally downloaded music (see legal advice)
Playback device
as above dependant on what format music you plan on playing
Mixer
pretty self explanatory used for mixing more than one source of music via play back device
to a single point
Amplifier
Needed if you're planning on using passive speakers to amplify the music output from your mixer before it goes to the speakers. (See Speakers)
Speakers
There are two main types of speakers that Djs can use Active And Passive
Active
Active speakers have amplifiers built in to them one less bit of kit to carry around, however amplifiers are heavy so these will be heavier than passive speakers.
Passive Speakers
Passive speakers rely on an amplifier to boost the music output from the mixer to the speakers.
Active Or Passive ?
I personally have active one less bit of kit to buy and carry around my advice ask a DJ.
