Hi Folks

Im looking for a fairly simple contoller to use with four LED Par 56 cans (the 5 channel Stairville ones from Thomann).
When ive used them as part of a mobile disco set up ive controlled them (along with other effects) from my Stairville DMX Master 1.

The thing is I now want to use them with my rock band to provide some simple flashing colours in the background etc. The Stairville contoller is a bit overkill and not ideal for this.
There must be a simple controller out there with pre programed chases that can control these four lights?

I saw this but was a bit concerned that it states its 4 channels.

any recomendations please.

Couldn't you just use sound to light to get "Simple flashing colors" ?

Give DFB a call. They had something like this - http://www.soundlightuk.com/shop/products/Soundlab-Black-DMX-36-Channel-Controller-With-Built%252din-Sound-To-Light-Function-and-Individual-Cross%7B47%7DStand-Sliders.html but more suitable for what you're looking for.

Dont see how the Master 1 is overkill and surely it would give the results you want. It is a fairly basic controller anyway and dont see why you would need anything else for a band unless you were looking for a "Live desk" with Blind, flash buttons etc.
Doubt you would find a controller with pre programmed chases for par cans so you would have to set them up yourself anyway.

Can your par cans be switched to 3 channel mode ? (I know my Pulse ones can)
If so, Chauvet do a little 3 channel controller with some basic features on and it has RGB sliders for color mixing.

The Ryger FL-P1 does :)

It sounds like it might be exactly what you're looking for.

I tried that but they each had quite different sound sensitivity so when one is not doing alot another one is going mad and the speed controller doesnt help much.

Try linking them via DMX but setting the fixtures like this......

Par 1 - Master
Par 2 - Slave
Par 3 - Slave
Par 4 - Slave

This way, the slaves will all follow what the master is doing so you control the sound sensitivity from the master unit.

Stairville par 56 cans do not operate master/slave.

I have the same par's and I use this http://www.thomann.de/gb/stairville_ddc6_dmx_controller.htm?sid=2fe8874d875 a61b87f602a77d9346ca6
Does what you want it to do, can also run on a 9volt battery.

I've used the DDC6 mainly to easily show clients the colours available for up lighting and I recently used at a fashion show to enable me to change the mood of the catwalk depending on the theme of the show at any given time and it worked really well. I do agree on the sensitivity of the Stairville cans though al of mine (16) seem to be really mental on S2L.

I was hoping for some pre programed chases as I will be on the drums when we needs this so no one around to push controlls...

That's what I would have advised.
