Just to add that due to Paul i have now secured a few bookings at his local and as mentioned in a few threads "Networking" works brilliant.
I really enjoy the nights i have have at his local it's a break away from the norm of "Chart hits" etc and i must admit i'm no soul, northern soul, motown expert but it's seems that i must be doing somthing correct as i have a massive response from the owners & the customers which i'm sure Paul can back me up on as he has all the inside scoop lol
Once again THANKYOU Paul :D

My pleasure mate.
Like you say they do like their Motown , Northern Soul and more. They've also had the DJ Willy (Landlords brother) there for a long time so it must be nice to be booked to go back again in June ;)

I've done a few places like that and they are a refreshing change from the clubs/bars where everyone thinks that they are better than anyone else and are all fashion victims following the latest trends.
One particular venue's punters were apparently 'hard to please' and they'd also (apparently) tell you in no uncertain terms if you were rubbish. I think it was the landlord's fault as he just got in cheap and cheerful DJ's who would obviously play the wrong type of music. I got booked for a 40th via a friend at full price and he was a regular. His music tastes were Indie/Alternative with Ska/Reggae etc... and what the punters described as 'Jukebox Classics' (bit of a sweeping statement that one).
I went in, did my job, had a great time with the punters and ended up doing regular gigs there and it was really enjoyable. The only reason I stopped doing them was because I classed them as 'fill in' dates and helped me out when things got quiet....Now times aren't quiet.
Give me one of these places instead of the 'too cool for school' club/bar type things. I've done loads of them and never again.

Not really sure why you have quoted me there Gary?
I called it the grave dodgers pub because Paul likes to take their money off them every Thursday at the quiz ;)

I quoted you because I thought it was worth quoting.
