Paying in advance

Hi all,

Just got an email from a client for a wedding.

He's asked to come round one day in May to pay the remaining amount and get a reciept.

How many of you allow this and/or would if you was asked.

In fact I am finding brides are wanting to pay earlier than usual.

I get it allot and all clients pay one month in advance anyway.

some clients prefer it so its out the way.

I would welcome advance payments ALL day long.

I had one pop round with the contract and cheque, Luckily I wasnt in as I would have just had to offer them a cuppa

Yes, again no problem with that, especially if the client is paying by cash. I must admit as I don't know them from Adam, I don't invite them in or at a push into the hall if need to sign anything.

Never let clients into my home. Mainly because its a real lads pad and it doesnt create the right impression with clients.

Being full time I'm able to go meet them anywhere at any time pretty much.

Cant see the problem in accepting payment up front although happy with cash on the night.
Always happy to meet anywhere that sells :beer1: or at a push raid the wine cabinet at home :D

I think this highlights the worry about clients who you have had no prior dealings with coming round to what might be the storage facility for your music and kit. Sadly, such misgivings may be well founded nowadays. Where possible, I'd have to vote for either meeting at the venue, or if not, the customer's home. Just my take on it.

All the time - it's in my Booking T&Cs - Weddings are 28 days before and private parties 14 days before - If I take a late booking that's within the 14 days I do use my discretion.

The majority of weddings are paid for well in advance of the 28 day period.

And I aways go to visit my clients - I offer the choice of at the venue or their home, but 99% of the time it's been at their place.

I totally agree. The only times I have had people come round my home is if they phone at short notice and I have had too much :beer1: :beer1: :beer1:, or when they have just called round when passing.
