Is there any real difference between a par 56 and a par 64?

oh yeah, sorry! 64's are pretty much fine size wise, but i'd go for 56's as the 64's although fine are a bit cumbersome

Have you read the NADJ thread on this, our friends at Dragonspirt allegedly have some good spec LED parcans coming from Asia and they will demo for anyone interested and probably offer them to you as **** member at a good price.

Just a thought might be worth a wait, Brian Mole has some thoman LED cans so could offer some advise.

Yes, the 64s are bigger, and in generic terms brighter. Although in a world of LEDs who knows, its all dependent on the brand that your buying. Though I would imagine the size would be retained.

If they have the same amount of LEDs in them, the 56 may be better with a brighter smaller beam (as the LEDs must be closer together in a smaller can)

I would say no, although I haven't actually tryed it yet. Would be better than using a 'pin spot', but a sharp beam from a mover, scanner or colour changer would probrably produce a better effect.

I have 4 of the Showtec Par 64 LEDs and they are fantastic. Not really much use for lighting things up, but as a visual effect, definately worth the money.

Yeah you can almost use them more as effect lighting thats asthetically pleasing, especially when you can fade through the colours smoothly etc

Those ones you've linked to are the stairville type. The ones i and many others have are the showtec ones, which are £120 for a pair.. there might be a difference between them so might be worth investigating...

nobody can match thomann on that kind of stuff, they buy too much of it in. all depends if you wanna buy from the UK i guess
