Help Nameserver

hello again i joined nadj the other week and iv now got free web hosting e.c.t

i have a domain name

the domain (company im with is 123-reg)

i had an email from nadj saying :
"You’ll need to change the name servers for your domain to those highlighted above, so that your domain points to the NADJ hosting. It can take up to 48 hours for this to update"

im not sure how to do this can any one help thanks

Contact your web host (NADJ)..... they should be able to help.

Go to 123, log into your domain, click on configure, click change nameservers, remove the default 123 nameservers and change them to the names that NADJ have given you.

It will be something like ns.nameserver.com and ns2.nameserver.com

You need to login to your 123-reg account and go to the control panel for your domain name... Then look for 'Advanced Domain Settings' and select the 'Change Name Servers' link.

Then change the name server settings/information to the ones that NADJ gave you, and submit the changes...

Also note: If you have a .com domain name, you will first need to make sure that the domain is unlocked before you update the DNS settings - once you have done this and updated the DNS settings, you need to lock the domain name agin within your control panel.

Log into your 123-reg control panel.

Next to the domain name click on "Manage"

Scroll down to where it says "Advanced Domain Settings" and click on "Change Nameservers (DNS)"

Scroll down to where it says "Enter new nameserver information:"

Enter the name servers against "Nameserver 1" and "Nameserver 2"
(You should have been given at least 2 name servers usually beginning with something like NS1.XXXX and NS2.XXXX)

Click on the "Change Nameservers" button and its done.

You may have to wait up to 24 hours for the change to propagate but usually it changes in an hour or so.

NADJ are the new host, so they wouldn't be able to provide the old host's details surely?

Because you change the nameservers at the domain registrar and different registrars do it in different ways.

errr....
You don't need the old hosts details!

The new host should provide their name server details.
The domain holder (normally the user) will then need to liase with their registar to find out how to update these (as Tony says... they are all different).
However the basic facts of the new name servers remain.
