Amps Watts Less seems more?

How comes nowadays we are using 1000w + for functions and in the 70’s & 80’s we were only using 100 – 250 watts?

Over the weekend I have had my old Squire XL200’s out with my Altec Bass Bins run through 2 SA220 amps. The sound quality wasn’t as clear as my current system but sounded just as loud?

Have manufactures made changes or are we using more power ?

I can remember that my first set of decks (Fal mono Deluxe) had a 100w amp built in which at the time was sufficient for most functions.

Or am I just getting old and deaf

Yeah, and if you read the spec sheet, it only guaranteed 70w RMS!!!!!! :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek: :eek:
The Stereo 200 was only two of them bolted together. :D


Alan ( Crazy K ) sometimes asks if they've devalued the Watt. :confused: :D :D :D :D :D :D

A venue I used to do with the aforesaid 70w amp, I now take 1400w into.

In some cases, I'm sure customers want it louder than we used to be.
