Hi folks, I didnt get a chance to have my question answered before the soundcloud thread was closed

Are we still ok to post up youtube links of weddings etc, and favourite songs?

There probably is a point there technically, but (even where we're talking about the music being the main focal point of the video) considering how well youtube is policed, if it's still on there and hasn't been complained about by the copyright owner or removed by youtube, I think that a case could be made for 'implied consent' by the copyright holder.

Music videos are also not directly related to our industry (we can't police the whole world!), whereas DJs recording their mixes for the express intention of distribution (whether for download or profit or not) is very much within our remit. I mean, look at just how may DJs on here were/are not even AWARE of the fact that what they are doing is against the law, and that we do not have 'fair use' in this country.

In short, that is where we are drawing the line, and youtube links (providing they don't break any other forum roles - ie are family friendly) can continue to be posted.
