Does anyone use?
http://www.americandj.eu/default/mydmx.html

I would probably want to use this on a Netbook (but using main laptop for devloping scenes/shows etc).

Main fixtures are DynaTwins and a DynaRoll, but a have a bunch of other effects that may benefit..
My current control is a dedicated DMX unit, a pain to use, and I've a few simply sequneces, mainly used for 1st dance, slowies.

I never got on well with FreeStyler;

but... it may have been a case of RTFM... and user ignorance! lol

I since sold the DMX dongle I was using, so thinking about getting back into it again..

I Have one, use it to control my par cans have not got around to programing the other fixtures yet, seems to work ok and fairly simple when you get the hang of it, sadly it does not trigger on sound but if your lights allow it you can set them to sound to light with out having to disconect them

Hi Andy,
that was one of my concerns- I couldn't see a sound trigger set-up in the manual.
I'll probably leave most parcans on a 2nd simple controller - its got 6 sliders, so I set all pars to the same channel (RGB mode), or channel 1 and 4 - so I can access them all easily.

The PC based DMX is really for scanners and possibly moving heads.

Cheers,
Jason

MyDMX has no sound trigger.

It also cannot run multiple concurrent scenes, and has quite a few other limitations when compared to a more capable product such as Daslight.

As a long-term Daslight user running a wide range of hardware and scenes I'd vouch for it's simplicity and capabilities.

Yes, I am aware of the sound trigger :)

How difficult is the DasLight software to use? I'm not a good user of other peoples software :o

At the lower end, I can find;
http://www.djkit.com/daslight/daslight-dvc2-128-m-computer-dmx-controller.html
For around £200, but it looks to only support 128 Channels. On a smallish show, I'm estimating I could be using around 50 or 60 channels, but can't see myself adding lots of kit in the next 12 months, so perhaps it is ok with this limitation.

Thanks,
Jason

I bought MYDMX, set it up and used it once and then sold it on here. I'm not clued up on DMXing and the Lil' Mix with my LEDJ's does the trick for me.

MyDMX is based on an feature-limited fork of Daslight.

Download the software for free and have a tinker. You only pay for the dongle. There's a reasonable built-in 3D visualiser.

I've always used a hardware controller , that has a built in mic for sound to light to cycle through programmes..never really thought about using software control but i now do like the idea of it , but this question of audio triggers has stirred my curiosity ...no interface i have goggled has a built in mic .. so sound activated programmable scenes would be a great idea but how easy or even is it possible in reality?

sorry for being thick on this subject
