I know there is a thread running around the moment about replacement sound systems and sorry to add another, but my requirements are a bit different.
I am not in any particular rush if I can bypass the fault I have.
Fault in question is that every now and again we get what is a minor drop in volume and a dulling of the sound (its a nightmare to pinpoint sound changes when you are behind the cab line, but I think is HF drop off). I am thinking my Mackie 1801 is having crossover issues or a dry joint on the high pass filter out sockets or something else (could take an age to pinpoint). Therefore I am finaly going to get that DBX driverack installed to bypass the Mackie crossover.
It has just brought the need for a revised system to the forefront so looking for opinions really. Logic Systems are in administration so going to avoid that route and the logic blue is just out of reach at £4,999.
Looking for top and bottom end.
Tops could do with a large HF with preferably a 2" throat to work with the vocal side of things.
Will need to have the balls to do 250 covers.
I don't like plastic cabs so I would prefer birch ply product.
Active or passive is fine as happy to lug an amp stack.
Suggestions folks.
QSC and EV appear interesting.
Oh yeah budget. Happy to part with in the region of £3k ish. Bit more for the right system.
