Afternoon, Hope your doing alright?

I recently purchased the domi8tr 8 mirror 3ft light, which I have not used yet as It came broken the first time round so I'm waiting upon the replacement, but as time wears on I'm starting to think this light is a little too much for the average disco as I was going to use this in my basic set up.

what are your thoughts?

I had a good look at one in a shop. First thing that struck me was the size and weight compared to other LED lights, it was much bigger and heavier than I expected.

Looks OK in the video clips with smoke, but in the shop without smoke I was a bit underwhelmed with it.

Taking into account its size and weight I thought there were better LED options available (I'm comparing like to like - weight may not be an issue if you are comparing it to non-LED lighting).

Myself and Paul saw this at DFB and to be honest its a big heavy lump and not that good effect (based on what we saw) the mirrors only go up and down (again unless they had done something to it)

Id tend to look at getting a couple of scanners which do full movement.

Vertical movement only mate.No lateral. I'd say there are better for the moblie rig.

Thanks guys it was a impulse purchase, but now I'm starting to see the light ...

So much choice out there, I find myself looking for days on end, and then buying nothing. I'll flick through previous posts and see if I can get any ideas.

Having a search though the forum is a great start.

And I'm sure if you give us some idea of what lighting set-up you have at the moment, your budget, type of gigs you do and what sort of image/effect you're after there will be lots of advice from people using their lights week in week out - there's nothing like real life, on the road experience (all lights looks fantastic in the promo videos!).

As yours was broken when it first arrived is there any chance you can cancel the replacement and get a refund?

Yeh, originally I thought it was a cool centre piece, prob still is at certain events, I've got my first gig on the 25th hence the equipment quieries, I have 500 quid tops for lights.

What I'm looking for is something different and not run of the of the mill, something more modern and today really, hope that make sense, all the djs I have seen at events all have a tacky old light box with a few static lights, thats not what I want to be. :)

Great minds - I was just about to suggest browsing through the Gallery as well, then report back if you see anything you really like to get some more advice :)
