I like lists.

Here is a list of the top First Dances that I have been asked to play since 2008. http://www.lee-live.com/WeddingDJ/FirstDances.htm

I am surprised that Dr. Hook and Chicago and in the Top 10.

What is your most requested First Dances? And have you had any odd requests?

The Nearness of You by Keith Richards was the strangest one I ever had requested.

My oddest request for me, over all the years I've dj'd was for a wedding a couple of weeks ago. It was Train's Marry me. I really found it hard to understand why a couple would want that track.

Best

YouTube - ‪Linkin Park - "In The End"‬‏

Dunno about most frequent though.

Also had Blue Danube, I suppose that counts as unusual.

You and me song was the best. as its kind of cha cha cha / grunge it was a bit confusing for the guests.

Do you actually know anything about music Toby? Grunge???? Other than the fact that there are guitars on it, there's nothing Grunge about it. It's straight ahead Indie.

Strangest one for me so far:-

The King Blues, Underneat This Lamppost Light, i've posted the lyrics as there's a naughty word in there, but they are some interesting lyrics for a 1st dance. :)

We’ll walk through the city at night,
And talk about what holds no relevance,
Swaying and stumbling with my arm around yours,
I can see pink elephants,
And the smell of kebab meat and sausage in batter,
Will always remind me of you,
In the chip shop at the end of the night,
Making sure I get some food,

So kiss me underneath this lamppost light,
I know it smells of :Censored: but
You look beautiful tonight,

If I had the money we’d be in a cab,
Not waiting for this bloody bus,
But I’ll hold you tight so you don’t get cold,
You’re never one to fuss,
I kiss you after you’ve thrown up in the gutter,
I’d do anything for you,
A broken heart and a poisoned liver,
But we will stumble through,

So kiss me underneath this lamppost light,
I know it smells of :Censored: but
You look beautiful tonight,

My head is spinning and my body’s shaking,
As I cover my eyes from the light,
Why do I feel so dehydrated,
When I drank so much last night?
When you breathe I feel your tiny body move next to me,
And my heart beats like a hammer Lord knows,
Cos I’ve travelled through a million towns,
But I never seen two eyes as lovely as those,

So kiss me underneath this lamppost light,
I know it smells of :Censored: but
You look beautiful tonight

I have a wedding in August that has requested the BEP - The Time, and they definately dont want to be alone on the dance floor all the way through.....thats the reason they said they wanted it because everyone will join in.
Everyone to their own

Last year I had Train "Drops of Jupiter" as First Dance, which at least was a little more appropriate.
Wierdest one was 3 years ago, Jamiroquai "You give me something",Groom stood stock still, looking embarrassed, in centre of floor while Bride sort of 'pole-danced' around him

Did a wedding for a massive Depeche Mode fan last year.

His choice was this

YouTube - ‪Depeche Mode - Somebody 1984‬‏

Have a listen & tell me this isn't a fantastic song for a first dance.

I played the live version of 'Somebody' for a first dance a couple of years ago for 2 friends who were massive DM fans. Amazing song and I've seen them do it live a number of times....(DM obviously and not my friends doing their first dance).

ugly kid joe-Everything About You

lyrics:eek:

I, hate the rain and sunny weather,
and I, hate the beach and moutains too;
(and) I don't like a thing about the city, no, no
and I, I, I, hate the country side too !
and I, hate everything about you !
.. everything about you !
I don't like a thing about your mother,
and I, I hate your daddy's guts too,
I don't like a thing about your sister, no, no
'cause I, I, I, think sex is overrated too.
and I, get sick when I'm around,
I, can't stand to be around
I, hate everything about you !
everything about you, everything about you,
everything about you
Some day I got a bad attitude,
but that don't change the way I feel about you,
If you think all this might be bringing me down,
look again cause I ain't wearin' no frown !
I don't really care about your sister
forget the little bitch 'cause I already kissed her
One thing that I did to your lady
put her on the bed and she didn't say maybe
I know you know everybody knows
the way it comes, the way it goes
you think it's sad well that's too bad
'cause I'm havin' a ball and never cared a thing about
you
Everything about you, everything about you
I get sick when I'm around
I can't stand to be around
I hate everything about you

Agree with it being an amazing song, lucky you having seen it a few times, but unfortunately I've only seen them do it live twice as it was dropped from the live set in 1990 and re-introduced for the Tour of the Universe (starting 2009) as an encore, but was not performed at any of the UK gigs ;)

Strangest first dance I had was AC/DC highway to heel. It was not a "real" first dance, the bride and groom had chosen a normal song, can't remember the actual song. but as the groom was a avid heavy metal fan, it want to surprise the bride.
Her face was a picture, as they walked on to the dance floor in the normal way with the normal introduction, I then played about 5 seconds of highway to hell before switching to the correct track.
Afterwards she laughed about it but if looks could kill I would have been dead.

Friends of the B&G loved it.

Older family members hated it, almost ruined the night.

I did warn them!

The strangest wedding track was one I did a few years ago.

The first dance was something common like Shania's Still The One or From This Moment On (or something like that). But, about a minute and half in to the track I was intructed to chop straight out of it in to Meatloaf's Paradise By The DashBoard Light. Turned in to a very energetic first dance by this couple who were by no means spring chickens!!

At an engagement I got asked to play TBS Don't Marry Her!!
