View Full Version : Class D Speakers need new drivers

I recently lent out my CD12SP's to a friend, along with a suitable amp. He decided to use a different amplifier and has blown the bottoms on the speakers :daft: .

What do I need to buy to repair these? I can't seem to find 300w RMS drivers on eBay...

Contact Class D. ;) And how the :Censored: did he blow the LF drivers? :confused: I'd suggest that he had a small amp, and red lights blazing.

Try these, we got the 15" for a set of Class D, sounds perfect.

I sent them an email last night, no reply as yet. I'll bell them after dinner if I've had no reply.

I've no idea how he did it, he live mixes dance music, I'm guessing he turned the bass right up...

After buying the drivers and passing them to the guy who blew my speakers he has now fitted them but is telling me that the reason they blew is that the originals were wired up wrong, and I was lucky that they didn't set on fire!

Are either of those things even possible?

Interesting. Hard to believe, but interesting.

Possible? Yes. Likely? No. There are three pairs of wires on a passive crossover. Get any of them mixed up, and it won't work at all, or it won't work, and will also damage lots of things.

Let's just say I'm sceptical. ;)

So a person with insufficient knowledge to know that he was thrashing the :Censored: out of your speakers claims to be an expert on how a cabinet should be wired internally ?

I find that VERY difficult to believe :(

Big question.. Why did he not use the amp you had supplied, and do you know what amp he did use ?
