Anyone use these for acme dynamo or datamoon ? Thinking of getting some but not sure if strong enough, could use safety wire but prefer without. Found conflicting reviews as to how much they can support, so anyone tell me from experience ? Thanks in advance :)

Surely safety wire should be used anyway whatever you're using?

Tell you what Paulie, I'll drop one of these lights on your head and then see if you prefer not to use a safety chain...

What I meant was I use CHAIN at the moment, but want to make it less obvious. The safety wires I've seen in the local DJ shop (not Maplin they would snap :o) are a lot less obtrusive.

Safety wires are something that really bug the life out of me...

None of my disco lights have seperate chassis holes for running safety wires, so the lonly thing I can do with them is run the cable through the mounting bracket....fine if the g-clamp fails...but not if the bracket itself fails. Ive been toying wit the idea of drilling my own holes.....

Well could use 4 & normal one for laser, but adding postage would near as damn it be €100

True , excellent piece of gear.
And it's a bonus if you do photography as well.
Buy the cheapo clamps if you don't want quality .
If cost is an issue , buy the cheap clamps .
Going back to your original enquiry ,you can't moan about the price of these Manfrotto units if you aren't sure if the cheap clamps will be OK.

I use Rhino quick clamps all the time and I've put a IMOVE 5S moving head on them and it holds it fine. I've also used them with Acme Dynarocks, Dynamos and Magic Gobos. I use them for all of my lighting apart from Starcluster Laser and star balls.

thanks for the advice, got to try and make room for 2 more students first, so might have to go with what I've got at the moment. (4 X heavy duty clamps)

LOL the mrs wants to take 2 more foriegn students, but it's not possible in the time we got. We take foriegn students for 3 weeks and I also do the 2 parties for them. But also I've been booked for 9 weekly parties by another english school.

We had a foreign student stay with us once, and he fell in our pond

H was very embarrassed, but a lovely chap.

We had 2 germas stay couple years ago and one went out on the lash (was 20) during the night he p'ed the bed and the guy on the bottom bunk had to sleep on the sofa downstairs, he denied it when we confronted him and we thought the water tank had burst again as it did a while ago. He eventually said he would go to the dr and get him to say he had a water infection so could claim on his medical insurance.

We had to get new mattereses, covers and pillows, eventually after a lot of hassle the school paid us. Not had them from that one again though !

Yup , listen to the man, I don't know why anyone would consider anything else.
They are so adaptable, you can clamp lighting units to your speaker stands as well if you want , and I sometimes do when space is at a premium.
Just remember to get the spigots as well !!!!
