Humming and Buzzing for Portable PA

Hello

I have a Superlux SP108 Portable PA System, which i intend to use for my Quiz Nights and speaches etc...

However, there seems to be this humming and buzzing noise coming from the speakers ?

I have swapped out the speaker cables, same thing happens - disconnect them and obviously there is no noise lol

I'm wondering whether it is the actual powered mixer/amp with the system or power source, rather than the speakers !!

Yes a laptop is plugged in, but i have used it without the laptop and same thing !!

It seems to have settled some more now - maybe an outside source is interfearing with it ?

Think i'll have to set it up somewhere neutral

These are horrid poor quality clones of the Yamaha Stage pass system (which in itself was pants!) The Clones ALL have a crappy very noisy Switchmode Power Supply in that farts whistles whines and generally messes up the allready LOW FI sound.( the fans are in the same line as the pre and power stage)
I suggest freecycle sorry to be negative but ive seen around 15 or so and theyre all crap...Worse was Gear For Music and "Superlux" ... the Yamaha was poor too

I have 2 of the Stagepas 300 and they are reliable, inexpensive, flexible and have a fantastic sound for a small P.A.

Have either of you actually ever tried repairing one of these bits of junk????
I have amps i bought in 1977 that will still blow these bits of landfill away.
Its your money your spending thankfully its not mine...

I haven't needed to repair either of them as they are reliable.

They are bought for a purpose and they work very well.

If you want to compare like for like, then fair enough, but you aren't.

....but the again, I've noticed that you tend to call a lot of things that a large percentage of the DJs on this forum use without problem or issue 'complete junk' a lot of the time.

Darren, to be objective, in the example given by Dave, there did seem to be a recurring pattern with them, ( just like the perennial favourite, " overheating Mackies" ) and more than a couple of people. And like the Mackies, we hear from folk who have never had one single problem with them.

This issue of "Cloning" kit is becoming quite tricky. I have a Phonic amp, of a not dissimilar spec to the Yamaha, and I absolutely love it. On looking round, I now see it appearing with many different badges on, Behringer being a regular one.

It was a small number of people having a specific problem. That does not make them pants IMO.

ive FAILED to fix around 6 im afraid
If i see anyone heading my way with
one i try and keep away from them.
As an aside of the 6 i havent repaired
theyve all been noisy psu,s that eventually
went "pop"....2 went back to the maker
4 ended as landfill (i still have the rather good
plastic loudspeakers!) The 2 that were sent
back were returned as "BEYOND ECONOMICAL REPAIR"
1 was gear for music one was Yamaha...
The owners werent impressed.
Money well wasted

Surely then, if it was the PSU then i was the mixer as opposed to the speakers

Hiya Steve yes both repairs were inside the rather cramped tiny Mixer Amplifier Unit..there pretty densly populated printed circuits
that are double sided thus making em virtually impossible to
repair in a standard workshop or in the field
