Ok, I've said it many times before but when it comes to DMX, I am brain dead.
I have taken 2 x Mystics off my top bar and replaced them with 2 x Dynamos so I now have 4 x Dynamos.

They are all linked together with the middle 2 doing the opposite to the end 2. I got the CA-8 out yesterday (haven't used it for ages) and for some reason, it isn't working? I literally turn the lights on and let them run through the inbuilt programs throughout the evening.

Now, with the Mystics...even though they are ugly, they fill the room with lots of colour. I have noticed that the Dynamos (even though I used to use them ages ago), aren't as bright. They are the 100w versions. Nothing wrong with that because they are still good enough but as people who use the Dynamos will know, they are very erratic. They move around very quickly and what I want to do is to have them on a certain program all night.

Does anyone who uses the Dynamos do this? I'd like to have it so that the gobos are just changing when they are pointed at the dancefloor and not flying around allover the place, strobing etc....

Can anyone help me with the dip switch settings to do this please...
Off the top of my head, mine are currently like this -

Dip1-----Dip 1/10----Dip1----Dip 1/10

I could be wrong so I will have to check but I'm sure you know what I mean.
Thanks in advance.

if you wanted them doing just what you have said im nearlly 100% certain you will need a dmx controller so that you program them to stay in the one spot etc

BUT like i say i could be wrong.

will watch carefully as ive got 2 dynamos and i agree that they go wild lol

Woulnt you want

1----1/10-----1/10-----1

?

Certain you can do what you want- I think you just need to make sure that the master (with the CA8 into it) is one that has just "1".

It's ok....you can delete this thread if you like as I have located the manual. I will have a good look through it tomorrow and try and suss out the CA-8 again.

Yeah, your diagram is correct. Sorry, that's exactly how I currently have it set up. No sleep etc makes me a Derrr Brain....sorry.

Been out to the lock up and configured them properly. I actually had them set as 1 - 1/10 - 1/10 - 10...weird! I also sorted the CA-8. I remember reading somewhere ages ago that you had to have it plugged in first before turning on the units.

Sorted.

I'll have another look when I set them up at the weekend.

This is copied and pasted from the manual.....

In Master/Slave mode refer to the DMX settings below:
Master unit: DMX start address MUST be set to 001. (first DIP switch = ON, all other are OFF)
Slave units: DMX start address may have any value but NOT 001 (example:
set the first 3 DIP switches to ON)
* 2-light show
Dipswitch 10 “off” means the unit works normally and “on” means inversion. In order to create a great light show, you can set dip switch 10 “on” on any unit that is linking to the master unit to get contrast movement to the master unit, even if you have two units only. Dipswitch 10 on the first ( Master ) unit is no use for the 2-light show as it is the master unit that operates the light show.

So, going by the above and what others have said....It should be...

1 - 10 - 10 - 0 as said above already....BUT....the last unit on 0? is that correct?

yeah last unit no dip switches on unit one the master has 1 on the middle 2 have ten on to invert and the last one you want to pait with the first so none as the first one only has dip 1 on to set it as the master :)

i think i would prefer setting the groups alternatively 1 10 0 10

mine do funny things i run 2 dynamos and 2 rocks and have them set

rock 1, dyna 10, dyna 0, rock 10

though rock 1 is set to master the second dynamo becomes master and the rocks only roll while the dynas pan so never really spin so now i link them seperatly

Ok, Nice one...I'll try that.
It's a pain in the backside and thanks for the information SS and everyone else. It's a pain because I used to have them set up exactly how I wanted them when I first got them. Then I stopped using them for a while and put all the dip switches back to off. I like the Dynamos but just lately (because of the settings obviously), I haven't been that pleased with them. Hopefully sorted now.

yeah i know the feeling i did a gig 2 weeks ago and took just the dynarocks, and every time i tried to invert either of them even swapping the dmx lead ends over that light just went out completely confused me, even last night with all 4 linked or just the rocks linked then the dynas i couldn't invert either dynarock rather odd
