Speaker and Sound Experts please...!
Any reason why a single JBL EON 518S wouldn't be a good idea to use with 2 Opera 405ds?
I'm after adding some bass but want a lighter box (30kg) and I'm told 500W would be ample for my smaller venues.

Trust your ears.................
Just because components are made by differing makers doesn't mean they wont blend nicely.
I have used Mackie subs with JBL EON 15 G2 tops and , IMO, it sounds sweeter than if I had used the Mackie tops.
Can you possibly try out the JBL EON 518S before actually buying it ?

500W is power not loudness. ;)
The new RCF subs are very efficient and quite light too. Worth a look.
What about DB Tech, don't they make matching subs?

well the DBTechnogies site seems to match them with the SUB 18D - a hefty 42kg.
