I do allot of historic buildings and most have a fireplace.
Anyone done this? With two pars also would look stunning - or naff :p
I was thinking of adding this as an optional extra?

Is that sarcastic :) I cannot see why not for a dark room?
the addition of uplighting would help as it is a focal point structure and part of the ambiance? Obviously it wont give out heat :p

I have put uplighting around a number of fireplaces in venues to really make them stand out and it's looked great. I think the idea of adding a flame effect would make it look quite 'warming' in the winter but that's about it.
I like that . Not many venues I do have fireplaces though

I think that and a few logs can make a big impact and for a £25-30 optional extra its a no brainer even in the summer.
Living in the new forest I could pick the wood up on the way :D
I did a stately home tonight (very hot day) and they had candels in the main fireplace. :)
