OK been down to plasa 06

Saw the prototypes at the KAM stall and fell in love with them, they aint due out til Jan next year. They have DMX and Stand alone abilities and was led to believe that the basic programs will run off something simular to C8 controller they will do the std RGB 16,000,000 colours

of course size wise they are perfect 2' x 3' and will foldup in pairs for transportation price wise they are looking for about £600 but this was not clear if before vat or after as stall was busy and as ever staff thick as usual

I thought they were too small, brash, horrible patterns and colours and generally rubbish!

They must be able to do better than that.

We did see some properly programmed ones for larger scale productions, but even the small ones were £4K each.

Might be a while before they make their way onto the DJ market I think!

but these were the prototypes so was to be expected maynot be the finalised product quiet yet as what I thought and yes 2' x 3' is just what Im after no larger it becomes a pain to transport about from then on and carry about in general

I thought they were smaller than that - perhaps we are at cross purposes here and I was looking at the wrong ones?

They were on the KAM/Lamba stand, yes?

I don't see the point in using new technology to produce something that looks just as crap as the originals!

Its a start as they say

DMX Will
13-09-2006, 04:44 PM
they aren't going to get better unless they take away the perspex and replace it within something with more of a diffuse, making the effect smoother, and thus loosing the 70s look.

Just got back from the show. Those LED lightboxes don't look too bad, but i'm not too sure about serial port input :(

I wasn't too impressed with the show this year. Glad to see Prolight didn't have a stand :D

The Martin stand was pretty rubbish, as was their £40k laser. I can't see them selling much of the LED wall, at £12,500 per 2m x 1m strip...

Dragging this back up again, those who have a hand with electronics/DIY, I've found the circuitry, to making your very own DMX light box. The circuit only controls 8 channels, although you could easily build several together to increase the control
