Looking for one/two PA systems

Following on from my custom gobo thread I've been considering this for a few days and I think the best step to take is to get one or maybe two more PA systems.

First one is to use for Wedding breakfasts. Question is what do you guys provide with it? Small mixer and Ipod input?

Second one is to hire out. Seeing as I have a pretty decent second rig sitting in my lock up now all that I am missing is some speakers.

I've liked what people have had to say about the warrior psr8a however I'm guessing these won't be good enough to hire out? Unless I got another sub?

i use 4 psr8a's for ceremony stuff and speeches.

hire stock have some psr15a's also used for foldback duty.

This evening I've brought the 8a's and also the LD wireless system so I can have the desk out of sight.

Not sure if I should get a sub with the 8's for hire stock or get another set of speakers though

Personal scepticism says that I'd be wary of 8" cabs on a hire rig, with or without sub.

I think I'd lean towards a pair of 15" cabs, such as Andy mentioned.


Wedding breakfasts and speeches, well I'd just get a nice dinky mixer to run the 8A's from. For an ipod input, you only need a 3.3mm jack to two phono cable, so anything will do.

I got the wireless sender so I can just hook up a flightcased Denon x1500. I might need a X stand with a cloth if it needs to be in the same room.

Makes sense to me. Since I'm a passive kinda guy, I use 8" Skytecs, driven by a lovely Phonic mixer amp.

I use spendor studio monitors for any light work as you get fantastic definition.
Not the best bet if you need volume though, but perfect for ceremonies, background and vocal work.
They are neat and tidy and very compact.

For small work, such as quizzes, children's parties, wedding speeches, pool parties etc. I use this ......

Beautifull as the late Bernard Matthews would say. Top sound there for smaller events. But too expensive for me.

I use a mixer/cd unit into Chevin Reseach A500 into 2 x RCF Monitor 8 (300w rms speakers)

Yes, they is. ;) :D They have exceeded my expectations by a large margin.

I have used them for store launches with no problems at all. On many of those occasions, I had them inside, and a pair of Peaveys outside at a higher volume to entice the shoppers in. ( Or get busted by City wardens, or nightshift workers, in some cases.:o :D :D :D )

There is lot more bass available than I'd have expected, and I'd recommend you try to hear them or something similar. I wouldn't want to use them in a full on disco environment, but for what I've indicated, they're more than adequate.
