Due to my 'dedicated to weddings' mini sites doing quite well for themselves, I've neglected the my main site totally, I spent a few days revamping it and wondered if the web lads would have a quick peek, tell me if I've made any school boy errors and give a quick opinion on it overall.

All opinions, thoughts and feelings welcome good bad or indeed indifferent. Only thing I will ask is that it doesn't turn into a 'you need a professional to do it' fest. I'm well aware of the high standard the pro's work to, I just choose to do it myself :)

Yeah I know what you mean but I think they're all 300 dpi so not pixelation?

That looks good Mark. I would be happy with a website like that. Good quality photo's.

Here we go Mark, first impressions .....

Are you still a 'New Business'? How long is that appropriate for before you are no longer new - and is it actually a selling point? Might it put some people off?

Not keen on the negative marketing or telling people what they think in this bit......(always annoys me when people presume I have a certain preconception!)

'Many people have some kind of image and/or a preconceived idea of what to expect when they think ‘wedding DJ’ An old guy playing the birdie song while mumbling incoherent stuff and nonsense? Mark is miles away from the age old stigma attached to today’s wedding DJ’s'

Have more positive statements like:

'Mark has a refreshing style, is upbeat, well mannered and passionate about what he does.'

And

'He will be dressed suitably of course in collar and tie.'

is right next to a very smart photo of you, in a collar and tie - don't think you need to state it as well (or at least not right there)

.....possibly more to follow when I have a bit more of a look..

I don't know if it bothers you, but it's not loading very well on iPad

Looks good though! I also think the piccy looks stretched.

I went full time with the business here in Scotland November 2008, so you're probably right in saying I'm out of the realms of being a 'new business' good point.
I'm not a fan of negative marketing either, I'm terrible at writing content to be honest and will redo that.

No clue why to be honest Matt but I'll look into that, cheers.

Ok click whore - It's taking a while to load up here, but once it does everything looks ok - I do like the changing picture at the top, although not keen on the black 'Mark Wild - Professional DJ' block following me as I scroll down the page.

Overall I think it looks very nice, perfectly acceptable mobile DJ website IMO.

Maybe some of the wording could do with a tweak.

Agreed, the stretchy image is a bit weird but overall, great!

When you say 'stretchy image' Dave, do you mean a specific one or all of the images in the homepage slider? Just so I know. :)

Yes the homepage slider. It looks like the aspect ratio of the image is different to that of the slider so everyone looks a bit ermmm. fat. :D

I've just condensed (and rearranged a bit) your Wedding DJ page, I think it reads better without the negative stuff (though you may not agree of course)

It also leaves room for another paragraph, maybe add brief teaser about additional wedding services you offer?

'Mark's upbeat, refreshing style means he has a natural ability to DJ at weddings, where his love for all types of music, versatility and many years of experience shine through.'

Any reason you're writing in the 3rd person, Mark?

Leg end :)

Just personal preference really, business writing is traditionally done in 3rd person though I think.
