Does anyone use one?

Need to get a starcloth backdrop really for doing these shows we are doing.

However, we are booked for a range of sizes of venues and a few are a bit tight so I am thinking of getting the 3x2 NJD cloth to see how we get on prior to investing over £1,000 in the 6x4 for when we graduate to bigger shows.

I know I can use the 3x2 going forward anyway for 6 to 8 Casino jobs a year, so its probably worth investing £230. I can also use it for 2 of the Buble nights in a small local venue, so happy to invest as it will work out £23 a job over next 12 months. Also I can guage how well they do the job before forking out a lot of pennies on a big one.

Does anyone have any experience of the NJD backdrops (after a long winded warble to get to the question). Can anyone recommend any other? I am not interested unles it is woolserge as nothing else is durable enough for a professional application.

I've got a 3 x 2 and have attached a piccy for you. I thought it looked too low with this set up, but it depends on what you are thinking about doing and the way you are arranging the kit.

The actual cloth is fairly good quality for the money and the controller can do all manor of things, including dimming, which is very useful as it is very bright on it's highest setting.

I bought an Ultimax frame (http://www.ultimax1.com/more-ultimax-products.html) to put mine on, though it would just as easy go on a cheap Maplins goalpost (which I have, should you wish to buy cheaply!!)

If you are wanting to do it 'properly' then I would suggest a 6m x 4m Show LED cloth mounted using pipe and base.

This way if you need to put loads of cloths together for a job just hire in the additional cloths and they will all look the same.

Hire companies won't stock the NJD cloths, well the ones we know use Show LED because of it's durability and features.

On the downside they are expensive, probably looking at £2,000 each

I have both a 3m x 2m LED cloth and deck cloth from NJD and have found both very unreliable. The wire and connections to the LED are very thin and break very easily even with carful handling. I was having to repair the cloth every couple of useages.

When it is working it looks very good. Mine uses a cloth material which I think looks a lot better than the nylon type material that some manufactures use.

Darren that is very useful and gives some perspective to the size. It may well work for the casino jobs as our truss is 3m wide and we can't get it any higher than the bottom being about 2m off the ground.

Someone else commented on the durability of the LED connections not being so good. What's your experience Darren on durability.

Also should have multi quoted. Ben thanks for that peice of advice. I was going to use the NJD 3x2 as a test case for durability before investing serious money.

Not for me. I really could not be bothered with the hassle of hiring stuff out. I have enough on in my life without adding to it. I have even gotten bored of selling redundant kit, so that is piling up like nobody's business.

For other people though, yes it is a definite upside to owning one as per Ben's spec.

I've only used it half a dozen times, but it seems OK. No problems here.

I have a NJD 3 x 3 starcloth, I bought s/h about a year ago from Vectis, it's been out on general party hire since then without a problem. The only downside is it's a bit small for some jobs, 4 x 3 would be better.
