OK, my set up isn't too bad now I think, but was wondering what you would suggest to make it better ? Busget is about €170/£150 I was looking into a star cloth, but couldn't really find one that would fit my stand. This is my current set up:

I know the scrims aren't to everyone's taste, so please don't say sell them, get black ones etc. I am using the following:

2 X Datamoons
2 X Acme Dynamos
Kam Starcluster 3D
2 X Chrome Pars

I also have a Acme Tango which I tend to use if space and/or time is a factor, (but not always with the scrim stretched like that !) set up like below:

Aren't you retiring next year anyway? I think your money is better either saved or used in marketing/website

Well I might not now, thinking of going part time and getting a 'normal' job ! :eek: The site is getting a makeover in the next few weeks from a friend of mine, and he only wants a couple of beers ! :beer1:

Your set up look fine now to me. Neat and functional. What more could you want?

I agree with daz, but if you have to spend the money (its obviously burning a hole ;) ), get a white cloth/scrim for the stand and light that up the same way as the tripods...not a fan (generally), but i think it would look quite cool...

If something is worth doing, then its worth overdoing ;) Get a pro on the job as with most things in life you get what you pay for.

Unless the friend knows exactly what he's doing...we didnt exactly pay top ££££ for our logos did we ;)

I wouldn't say that and it was far far more than a couple of beers and I should imagine the time taken to set up a "good website" takes a damm sight more time.

My friend works as a website designer & owes me a favour ! But I'll look into a deckstand scrim & maybe a led bar to light it.

I dont get this seeing as we know nothing about his friend or what sort of work he undertakes.

I had a complete site built a few years back by a good designer mate in exchange for a bottle of red wine. Yes pro services are worth paying for but if you know a mate that can deliver the same standard and does it for a living then thats a bonus :)

playing devils advocate - would you do a gig for a bottle of wine?

Personally for mates and charity I would do for very little, especially if its not a friday or saturday.

Depends what sort of wine it is and what the value is. If I could sell it for more than £500 than yes :D

My point exactly.

Its true and I know next to nothing about your "mate" however I would never do a gig for a couple of beers or a bottle of the red stuff.

Yes but its a website not a gig. If hes willing to give a few hours of his time for free then why not.

Im sure they will :)

I was just making a point that if a mate is qualified enough to deliver a service and is willing to offer a favour then why not use them.

Anyway this is going slightly off topic now.


Paulie, I think your rig looks fine as it is. More gear isnt going to guarantee more work ;)

Nah... much as I like beer and wine, anyone who is prepared to pay in small amounts of liquor isn't my client ;)
