As ive had my aging Volvo for over 13 years ive purchased a new company car.
All i can say is ... How do they make em at this price???
I went for a new Skoda Octavia Estate ( i fancied a Deisel one )
but ended up with a petrol one for peanuts.
Here it is outside my Local Disco Shop

Seems ok so far and the economy is staggering averaging 40 to 45 fully laden and 45 to 50 without my speakers in!
I bought the Petrol one as it was £10.999 with 3 years everything included
i expected it to be crap after my beloved Volvo but its well made solid runs great and was CHEAP!.As the company paid for it i suppose id better get it lettered though..
Anyone any ideas for the design?

cheers Dave

Why on earth did you not just buy a van that is fit for purpose?. Not really peanuts is it the price you have paid for that.

That is a good return on your fuel, very good.

When you say company car, will this company allow you to use it for your gigs?

:agree:

If you're going to splash out on something...at least get a vehicle that's fit for the job. You might be able to fit a black cloth in then?

Not that staggering, I get that out of my 1.2 Petrol Clio! (yes, fully loaded)

Nobody else think its an unusual place to take a photo of your car? lol

Thanks for the input guys.
I Didnt exactly rush into replacing my Volvo having had it 13 years however as it was getting on i couldnt take a chance on it giving trouble on the way to a gig,(not that it ever did in 13 years).
I did think about a nice white van but as i needed 3 seats at front for mrs and master Sounds i was getting to Transit or big french thing with associated running costs.
Also as id Done 5 years as an Electrician followed by 30 years as a BT Tech i
really thought id done enough driving about in what i regarded as a tin box.
I Test drove a Volvo V50 ( Small and nasty) also a VolvoV70 ( Like turning the Titanic on roundabouts) and simply couldnt afford the Volvo V60 that relaced my old V40.
One van i did fancy was a Ford Transit Connect as id had a BT for 5 years and it was Brilliant but again only 2 seats.
The Last Van i chose at BT was a Vauxhall Combo which despite having Air Con and Electric everything was the Nastiest thing id EVER driven.
as to the Skoda being not fit for purpose i beg to differ as its even bigger than the v40 so i get 3 speakers across the rear bay plus lights.
Also Thanks Charlie for the Sarcastic Comment re black cloth ( i forgot mine last night !) im sure ill have space for it.

Cheers

Sorry, I'm just messing. I should have used a smilie.

I use Dad's Ford Galaxy which isn't designed for the job either but it's got plenty of space without the seats in.

Enjoy your new ride! :beer1:

As an aside ive had it a while now and im very pleased with it.
Its wider than my old Volvo and wipes the floor with its 50 MPG fuel consumption,Im really glad i bought the Petrol one now
Cheers Dave

Not a huge fan of sign written disco vans/cars but I do actually like that.

Just a mobile number which lets it down slightly IMO.

Do you get paid to advertise other company's products on your vehicle? If not, it seems extremely strange to me.

Thanks Deckstar, i must confess i,m very pleased with the look
The reason i dont have my landline on is i really dont want nuggets ringing my house at unsociable hours with silly faults or breakdowns and i can at least switch off the mobile at bed time.
Allthough the landline IS on the website .

And Corabar , Yes i do thanks

WOW !!! you got to CHOOSE your BT van ???

I had the following during my 29 years at BT

NVF 508 P Bedford Viva - fell to bits through rust
YCL 236 X Bedford Viva - one of the last ever made
F 34 UPU Austin Maestro - Better than the Vivas
J 406 VOP Ford Escort - Brilliant
M ??? ??? Ford Escort - Brilliant
S ??? TDA Ford Escort - Brilliant

Where I work now we have 3 Vauxhall Combo's (non aircon) and I agree they are really nasty. We also have an Astra Van which is really fast but has the worst seats I have ever sat in. After less than 10 miles I feel like I am crippled but thankfully most of the time I used my own Galaxy and get paid mileage.

Like the look of your new car and I know what you mean about needing more than two seats. I have that dilema at the moment.

Hiya Katman
Yes i drove some real sheds at BT
Morris Minor ( couldnt see a thing out of it! )
Commer 2500 ( Death Trap)
"Dodge Spacevan" Deadly
HA Viva Gutless rustbuckets
Austin Marestro petrol ( horrid gear boxes)
Astramax diesel ( great van stolen many times )
Several Escorts diesel ( all ok )
Transit connect diesel ( Great van side loader built in office table lots of Flaskroom) i got a full disco kit in there too
Combo diesel ( Total uncomfortable shed!)
i remember fancying a managers astra ONLY untill i sat in the back
and realised springs must have been an extra.
Happy Days ( Honestly)

Makes the Skoda look pretty good now eh?
By the way Kat i made NEARLY 30 years too

I would have made it past 30 but my last 9 years were at Martlesham and the 105 mile round trip up and down the A12 from Great Yarmouth was just getting more and more dangerous due to the poor single carriageway road.

Glad I got out when I did or I might not have been around now. Had to take evasive action 2 or 3 times a DAY to avoid collisions due to idiots on the road.

Here we go, the van police are out :D

I like Skodas. My old Felicia was a good workhorse. Normally the bodys wear out a long time before the engine does.

When I first started, they were scrapping vans at 7 years old with only 14000 miles on the clock. By the time I stopped being a field engineer we were doing upwards of 50000 miles per year !!!
