What's the purpose/

I was always told as a lad that God has put every creature on the planet with a purpose, there is a reason why they are here. Well can somebody help me please with establishing why the following are on the planet?

1. Wasps

2. Ticks (doggy types, not the ones I always used to get next to my maths answers! http://planetsmilies.net/winking-smiley-42.gif )

3. Fleas

Ok lets have a go at answering this.

I think the word purpose is being used slightly out of context , every thing evolves to a niche , there is a niche for wasps , they are great at keeping pest under control,they are a part of the food chain , they themselves are prey to many birds and animals , nature has a habit of keeping everything in balance , getting rid of the wasps my be good for your summer picnic , but what would evolve to replace it ?


Fleas are Fleas , for the life of me ,I cannot see why we have them , but I presume they are also part of the food chain , they are prolific breeders , female`s can produce up to 50 eggs a day :eek:

Ticks are in the same category as fleas , but some say they are an indicator species , showing the general health of an eco system , birds love them :D
Ticks can spread Lyme Disease ( which on occasions can be fatal) , and they keep the rodent population at bay..

Many insects, wasps included, serve the purpose of pollinating plants and flowers.

Not so sure what fleas and ticks do, other than being the bottom of the food chain, but I'm sure they have their reason to exist too!

There's well worse bugs than wasps, ticks and fleas, they're quite tame in comparison

There's types of lava that lay their eggs inside other animals after paralyzing them from head to toe, then the eggs hatch slowly eating the paralysed animal from the inside out while it's still alive

One of the reason why i'm an athiest, no such god would surely create anything like this?

Slightly off topic. I don't remember ever being stung by a wasp, but I am terrified of them. What's all that about?

I am sure the rest of the planet would like to know what purpose we serve!

We use all the resources, force out everything else and can't even get on with our own species and wreck the rest of the wildlife whilst obliterating one another.

I think if there was a world species vote we might find that bar a few faithful dogs we might lose the vote by quite a lot. :)

They tend to pick on caterpillars the most, they don't really have the capacity to fight back.
