I have sent a cease and desist e-mail but not heard anything back as yet.

A guy has just phoned me from this website

Very good at talking he was too, I hardly got a word in edgeways.
Basically telling me that generic phrases were not copyrighted, he would look at rewording where possible but pretty much told me that I didn't know what I am talking about. He says he has 'hundreds of sites and he knows what he is talking about.

I have actually updated my website recently, the content that he has copied was from my previous site. Is the copyright on that still enforceable?

Please have a look at my pricing page and then look at this page. Can you spot the glaringly obvious copied content? Especially packages, Karaoke etc

Copyright exists for 75 years IIRC... or is it 75 years after the author's demise? Something like that... so as long as you have proof that you were there first (web archive is a good idea) then go for it!

However, sounds like this guy will just twiddle with phrasing until it's "sufficiently different" in any case :(

Anyway, I sent an email to the site owners ISP and got a reply within 1 day promising to look into it and then received an email this morning saying the following.

" Hi, with regards to your complaint regarding www.yourdiscopartynight.co.uk. I started the site about 5 months ago and paid a friend to create the site on my behalf as I am quite a novice when it comes to websites. At the time of getting the site I was never made aware that any of the content was used from another site and for this I am extremely sorry. I will be making sure that over the next few days I will be changing the sections identified and removing the content.
Once again I would hope you would except my sincere apologies"

I am currently working on my own website and cannot believe the cheek of some people, also the website is like it belongs in 1997. Why don't they just spend some time and effort and fill it with there own content and wording. I'm not the best at writing things down but I make the effort - hoping to show you my site once its finished.
