Ok...guy local to me...

http://www.motiv-8.co.uk/options.html

and mine

http://www.dynamic-entertainment.co.uk/video-and-photo-presentation.html

Copyscape says 10% copied which isnt alot really (the birthay bit, and a few other sentances are almost word for word)...its obvious that he's used me for "inspiration"...but is it enough?

And more from elsewhere....

Their testimonial reads:

"Thank you for providing an excellent DJ service at our wedding reception. The evening went really well - I don't think the dance floor was ever empty."

Mine:

"Thank you for providing a great DJ service at our wedding reception. The evening went really well - I don't think the dancefloor was ever empty!"
- Michael & Kellie (Wedding at Hundith Hill Hotel, Cockermouth- 23 April 2011)

I have the feedback form for this too...whats the chances for 2 near exact comments?

At 10% you're going to struggle... if he was selling holidays in Peru, then you'd probably have a case, but as he's based in the same area and selling a similar niche service, I think the Man on the Clapham Omnibus would say it's a coincidence.

And as for the testimonial, the same will apply. However if you're convinced they're fake then you might want to call his bluff as a potential client and when he can't produce look to Trading Standards or the ASA.

Or spend less time worrying about what others are doing and invest it in developing and promoting your own business ;)

Thats my though too....i think the testimonial is more likely to be a complete rip off...and its obvious from the other site that he's used me as "inspiration" for the main selling points.... I think its just a case of it rasing a flag and me being aware and watching them for any further copying....

:agree:
All the stuff he copies is worthless if he cant backup his statements anyway.

Fair enough....its just annoying when its someone whose based less than 1 mile from me ripping off my selling points....and offering it as a free service

If it was someone at the other end of the country then I really wouldn't care less...

I know the chap who runs Headline DJ Steve and I really can't imagine that he would steal something like that. It must have been a complete coincidence.

Almost exact word for word...right down to the punctuation?

Anyway, I don't hold any weight in anyone's testimonials that doesnt give any mention to client or venue.... I may actually call this ones bluff and ask for proof of the statement...I have it in the form of Client Feedback forms.

Again, its only annoying because we serve the same area and a posible client may look at it and assume one of us is lying....actually....with that in mind....I may just link to the pdf on my website to prove its genuine...
