View Full Version : Failed driver RCF 705AS sub

At one of last weeks Proms Dave (Booche) and I were setting up the larger sound rig 2 x 312A's & 2 x 705As all connected up all lights on where they should be, sound checked but it didn't sound right :confused:

I closer inspection found that one of the subs wasn't making any sound at all :eek: The signal lights , power lights etc were al fine but no sound. Changed the cables still nothing so rather than cost us set up time we just used the one via the X over. We did leave the other sub in situ for aesthetic reasons although it wasn't plugged in at all ;)

Anyway sub goes off to repair shop the next morning marked as urgent. I went back today (with my amp ;) ) to collect it to be told it's not done and so far they'd found that the driver had gone.

So 3 paragraghs later we get to the question :D

Is that a common thing in 705's or am I just really unlucky at the moment?

The bloke in the shop said I must have run it too hard......well the other one does exactly the same and that's ok :p ;)

THEY ALL SAY THAT ;)

I have been unable to destroy any of my Peavey Speakers despite trying very hard with an array of red and yellow warning lights worthy of a light show in its own right.

Disappointing to hear of makes like this and DB failing this week.

I must admit Ive ran one very very hard in the past...whilst chucking some god aweful dubcrap through it...and its still fine....

I find it hard to believe aswell as although I don't "beast" them they do get a good workout :D

It's unfortunate that there's not really another repairer near me as I really don't like these guys :(

He keeps trying to push me towards citronic / skytec kit and thinks Wharfedale speakers are the dogs.

No offence ment to any owners of the above named kit ;)

I've had my rcf subs for a while now and never had any problems with them, What i thought was a problem wasnt.

Repairers. The company that do repairs for RCF direct are called Ampman. These are the company that do the repairs for RCF whilst under warranty
